I have a few questions if anyone could help me out:

1. Does the block heater regulate itself? Will it turn off if it gets to a certain temperature?

2. Is testing the element with an ohm meter a good test to see if the element is still working?

3. If replacing an existing heater, how do you get the existing element out of the engine head?

Cheers

I don't have a block heater on my RTV. But I'll offer my generic experience with them.

1. Every one I've had heats non stop when power is applied.

2. Yes, an OHM check will tell you if it's functional. They are a simple electrical short.

3. Sorry, can't help you with removal. Ones I have dealt with replace a block freeze plug. Have a tightening system that swells them against the block hole and holds them in place without leakage.

Following your progress and hope you have success. Post pics if you can.
