Kubota RTV 500 won't start

I let my RTV500 run out of fuel. When I filled the tank and tried to start it, it won't start. It turns over but doesn't fire. When it does fire, it only stays on for a second or so. I put in marine fuel (no ethanol). I've seen posted about bleeding the lines on a diesel RTV, but nothing for a gas. I checked the fuel filter and it is clear. I cannot fine a complete engine schematic for my unit.

This is the first time I'm having problems like this with my RTV 500.

did you try holding the key about 30 seconds on (without and before cranking) to turn on the fuel pump before cranking. I have a diesel and know that mine starts best turning the key halfway waiting for a "click noise" before crank

Yes, I did. Still didn't start. the only information I can find on the Internet refers to a diesel and that the fuel lines must be bled. The one thing it said was 'never to let it run out of fuel'. This is the first time it ran out. It's been a great vehicle.

I did try and spray engine stated and it almost starts. it would run for about 5 or 10 seconds then stop. When this happens it sputters a lot before dying.

I would check to see if the fuel pump is running??? IF yes?, then I'd check to see if it is pumping fuel...

Because it sounds like the fuel pump is toast, or fuel isn't getting to the pump.

FWIW, I've let my RTV 500 run out of gas several times. (Sure would be nice to have a dash mounted fuel guage!). Never had any issues with restarting though. Makes me think it may indeed be the fuel pump. Just a thought. Good luck.

You say it starts but only runs for a second or two. That sounds like a fuel regulation problem, not a pump problem. What year RTV 500 do you have?

I've never changed a fuel filter on mine so I don't know where it is but, if it's before the pump and I'm thinking it would be, the pump may not be able to pump enough fuel through a plugged filter to keep it running.

I'd find the filter and change it first thing...

Thank you all for your input in helping me find the solution to my problem of my RTV500 not starting. After a lot of trial and error, new plugs, insuring fuel filter was clear, fuel pump was working, coil was replaced, could not find what the problem was so it is one its way to the dealership. The last thought was that it could possibly be a sensor.

Thanks again for all your input and help. I'll post what the final problem was in case anyone else experiences this. i have to say, though that this unit has been very reliable and has never failed me before.
