Kubota RTV 500 (2006)

My first post in this section, I am looking at buying a 2006 RTV 500 with 1158 hours on it. I have heard the machine start and run and it sounds good. It is at the local Kubota dealer and is currently recieving full service including a new seat and the bed is being repainted and rhino coated (trade in unit). I will test drive it this afternoon hopefully if the work is complete and the weather cooperates. My question is has anyone had any real problems with a machine like this? I am confident in the Kubota brand but just wanted to get some opinions. It will be used for general farm work and will not have children operating it.

There are some good threads on here detailing some quirks members have had with their 500's. I don't remember the details, I think the issues were primarily minor items.

I have a farmer cousin that has had one for over 2 years-it probably averages 90 minutes use a day-no problems.

If memory serves, the RTV500 came out circa 2008 as I believe I bought one of the first ones in this area at that time...Anyway...They are good, dependable machines. Not fast, but great workers. There are adjustments to the servo and max RPM than can be done to increase the performance somewhat. Mention that to the dealer, they probably know about it by now.

I had mine for a couple of years and had no problems aside from the tuning adjustments mentioned above. I think Kubota de-tuned them for reasons unknown when they first came out...Have the dealer do this, no point in buying an inductive timing light when they are trying to sell to you.

Ok thanks, the machine was delivered last Friday and we have put about 6 hours of running time on it so far and it performs great. I see what you mean about not being fast but that is absolutly no issue for me, my hot rod days are long past. We have been hauling and draging a bunch of dead trees to the fire piles with no problems at all. My wife loves the Hydrostatic tranny and has claimed the machine for herself. I wonder if she will take the work that goes with it!
