I'm a JD owner. But I've used many different models over the years. Currently have a '94 JD970 synchro tranny tractor that's 33hp and 30 pto hp.

Soon to be retired (30 days and counting..) and kinda edging around and shuffling my feet on the dealer lots lookin' at the shiny new models.

Recently went to the local Orange dealer's 10-year shindig and ate a couple brats and sat down on some real nice tractors.

Really liked the L4240HSTC. I'm a little more inclined to be interested in the 4740, though.

Searched through some of the recent threads here and noted the price quotes for the new L40 series.

I'm wondering where the MSRP info can be found for Kubota's? Seems that 10% off the MSRP is a reasonable deal to shoot for. But I can't figure out where anyone knows the starting point for making any kind of informed purchase decision.

Thanks for any info.

There is some info here:

BTW congratulations on your upcoming retirement! I just did too, and am loving every minute of this new freedom!

hm, think you could point me to where you found that sheet?
Would love to find one for the TLB tractors, B26 in particular.

Sorry to steal your thread, back to topic.

What all do you plan to do with the tractor? It sounds like youve done a lot with your old tractor, so what in store for the new one?

Not sure if it's still current and when I tried it I couldn't connect so it might even be dead but this guy use to have the list price, a good price, and a great price for most (if not all) Kubotas. www.kazez.com/will/kubota.html

Another website I look at is Carver Equipment, their weekly special page list prices for some of the Kubotas. They are down in NC but at least it gives an idea what you could expect to pay. Carver Equipment Introduction

Appreciate the responses and the additional info.

Since I'm in the "retirement mode" I don't plan on doing anything at too high a RPM. But I'm looking at a new (or newer) tractor in the next couple of years.

So, I'm gonna pay alot more attention to other makes and models in the process of sorting out that next capital investment.

We've got a couple of 4-H pigs and some Rhode Island Red chickens and 2, "large organic hay recyclers" on 20 acres.

I've been cutting trees when the snow is on and digging up stumps and roots when the frost is out of the ground to make more pasture area.

Likely will need the next tractor for hoe and FEL work along with tilling and some raking and tedding work.

My current tractor is just a bit short in the HP department and is not as user friendly as my wife would like (gear tranny..).

There's a local Kubota and a JD dealer both within 15 miles. I just bought a LandPride scarifier from the Kubota dealer and he seems to be more amenable to working with me than the JD manager (he was $265 more than the Orange guys on the scarifier).

The new L40 tractors don't give up anything to the 4000 series 20 JD line. IMO, the Orange cab models are every bit as quiet, comfortable, visibility, instrument layout as the JD's.

The FEL's and Hoe's look to be just as strongly constructed and engineered as any I've looked at that was painted green.

Sorry for running on...

Thanks again.
