Kubota oil dipstick and filler locations..

I read my manual and then went to check the oil and hydraulic levels. The hydraulic was easy to find although it seems a bit in the way, but I can live with it. But the oil dipstick was impossible to find to say the least. Then after looking it up in YouTube finally located it, and then went to top off. Not happy with the filler location, my JD 790 has it right on top and easy access. What were Kubota engineers thinking, is all I can say...

Yep, my Kubota B2620 oil dip stick is real handy.....................but...........the B2650 is difficult to access, especially when the FEL is mounted... just another fly in the ointment of life.

I remember those days. I had to color the top of the oil dipstick with white paint and I still had issues finding it.

On my MX5400 the oil dipstick is much easier to locate.

Dipstick location and accessibility as well as oil fill location do seem to vary by model. I would prefer a fill cap on top of the valve cover like my car or last tractor but I can live with it as it is. My dipstick is exactly where it was on my old Mitsubishi albeit harder to see.

The engineers that designed the engines and the engineers that designed the rest of the tractor weren't talking to each other, seems like to me.

Same problem with my M7060HDC12. With the front end loader mounted, and because of the cab, it is almost impossible to see the engine oil dipstick. The one time I changed the oil with the front end loader mounted it took about a 4' hose on the end of the funnel to be able to fill the engine with oil again. Unfortunately it was a bitter cold day and I hadn't taken the precaution of warming up the new oil I wanted to put in the tractor. It took a LOOONG time for that oil to flow down that hose into the engine!

My hydraulic fill/dipstick are just fine. Engine oil cap is hidden behind the FEL. Loooong neck flexible funnel solves the fill problem. Engine oil dipstick is just fine. My M6040 is open station.

A friend of mine with an L had this same complaint. Apparently they're the same color as the engine block and have just a knob as a handle. You should paint it a contrasting color, maybe yellow. The one on the B is at the back with a normal cicular handle.

Dont the engineers have feedback from customers and dealers, or are they kept in a locked room somewhere with no communication till they spew another faulty design for a tractor?

I could be totally wrong here but my recollection is that Kubota made engines before they made tractors and continue to have a very large market share in many other applications. I think the engines were built for general purpose then they started putting tractors around them. Not sure how much of that has changed with the new focus on Ag tractors but I know for my MX and M4 the engines used had previous histories in generators and water pumps for sure and I'm sure some other applications. So yeah, I can't stand the dipstick location on the M4 or the filter on the MX but if that's the worst of my complaints on the engine I'll be happy.
