Anyone have any experience with this tractor. Looking for an utility tractor, with loader for yard clean up, fence posts, some light farm work like a manure spreader. Don’t think it would be powerful enough to plow. Have bought 73 acre farm and land rented but i want to fix up barn and house area. Eventually may want to run the farm

I have an MX5200 which is fundamental the same tractor. You’ll be surprised at it’s strength

With R1’s it could definitely pull some plows

I have an MX, if it is HST, that is intensive work which could cause overheating. I do however plow extensively from NOV till MARCH, but the implement is the FEL. For general light farm duties, they perform well. I have 110 acres which we hay, main tractors for those chores is 5125r and 5075m, both deere. You will want a tractor w/ draft control for cultivation. We no longer bother w/ row crops. The margins are ridiculous.

only advice would be to delay the tractor fever purchase until you really explore your needs (esp future) on your new place. congrat on that.
sounds like a stout utility tractor is what you are considering. owned a mx5000 gear once, solid bare bones tractor. maybe a little light footed when it comes to fel work, but still capable of a 6' hog. i'd say it will also plow, at least a single moldboard.
anyway, sleep on it.
dealers are always to willing to take your wallet...... wise to post on this forum before purchase bb

Have had one for about 6 years. Will plow without a problem and the HST is fine. Run it in the correct range and you won't have any issues overheating. I run a 6' brush hog in 6'+ weeds in extremely steep terrain and as long as the radiator stays clear I have no issues at all.
Run a search for MX5100 and you will find a ton of info as a lot of us have them on here.
Good luck!

I had one also. Did everything I asked of it except keep me in air conditioned comfort while brush cutting (open station ) I traded it in for an M7060 12 speed with cab. As Code54 stated, keep the radiator clear to avoid the temp from climbing up. You had mentioned 73 acres - I'd make sure you really define what you'll be doing with your tractor before you buy. You may also want a cab tractor. I ultimately went with two tractors, the M7060 mentioned above to mow with a 12ft Bushhog and a 35 hp Grand L3540 HST purchased used with 220 hrs on the clock which I use for small chores around my place.

I own a MX5100 since 2013. I run a small produce farm and the 5100 has a 73 in rototiller that works great. It is HST and has plenty of power. I downsized from a IH574 RC that was 2wd. I leave the rototiller on the tractor when I use the FEL. I got a bigger FEL bucket (3/4cu yd) since I move about 200 cu yds of mushroom compost on the garden each year. I drag a 7 ft finish mower and a 6 ft rotary bush hog. It is ideal for my needs and trouble free so far.

corl,

Lots of mushroom barns in your neighborhood? I have a MX as well, are your rear tires loaded? Mine is light in the rear but the rototiller must help. I have a six ft befco tiller, straight blades for aerating. Also 110 inch befco finish mower that is very HD, uncommon swinging blades on a finish mower. I bought a large snow bucket, which is ok for snow and maybe hay mulch, but not practical for dirt or gravel. I also purchased an all glass Agrital Cab (Italy) as I feel the cold more so these days than in the past.

new tractor cab, aftermarket - OrangeTractorTalks - Everything Kubota. Shown w/ loader removed. You Tube Channel "One Lonely Farmer" has done some videos of mushroom barn operation, inside operation tours, since he grows and delivers hay to some of those facilities in NJ and PA.

My MX is gear driven, no problem with I would think a two bottom plow. I really like this tractor, lot's of power and very maneuverable.
