Kubota models comparable to Cub Cadet SC2400

Hi guys, I'm looking into purchasing my first small tractor & I'm considering the Cub Cadet SC2400.

Lots of raised voices suggesting I "just get a Kubota!".

So: What Kubota model would be comparable to this one?
24-26 HP range
Diesel Engine
Sub compact size
FEL
60" Belly mower quoted $14,000

I'm a girl so I need something small enough for me to operate on a 6 acre horse/tree farm but with guts.

Comparable Kubota would be BX 24 or the newer BX 25. You will probably be looking at closer to $16k w belly mower. You might be able to find a clean used one for less.

She didn't ask for a backhoe, so the BX2660 would be appropriate also.

The SC2400 ain't too easy on the eyes that's for sure. Not that a tractor has to be a show piece, but still...

No comparison.
Kubota BX wins hands down.
Another very good one is the MF GC2310 and GC2300
GC 2410 & GC 2400.
OF course there is always the JD 2305.
These are the only sub compacts out there.

Every thing else is a compact or bigger tractor .

Hi Outfox, welcome to the forum.

I read your other post and think you should consider a rotary mower (bush hog) for your pasture mowing rather than a belly mower. The finish mower may well do what you want it to but it is not built to hold up to that kind of mowing in the long run. It also cost 3 or 4 times what a light duty rotary mower would with less maintenance (blades) . Now if you have more finish lawn to mow than I realize that would be a different story.

Mark thats a good call on the mowers to be cautious as to which type of mower for the conditions. We do have customers that have been mowing their fields with mid mounts and some have had some issues.

It does depend on the conditions of the field as to if the deck will hold up to it and if the frequency is enough for a finish mowing deck. We've found that when people try the finish deck it will work and often leave the field nicer looking.

Your going to need a larger tractor, a B or EX3200 for a good size brush hog.

As stated above, the comparable Kubota tractor to the cub SC2400 is the BX model. There are 4 different models in the BX line that differ mostly by horse power, except the BX25, which comes standard with a front loader and backhoe. This would be the most expensive model and I take it from what you're looking to do that you don't need/want a backhoe. The other 3 models are the BX1860 (18 hp, a bit smaller frame/wheels), BX2360 (23 hp) and the BX2660 (26 hp and a real nice seat). Any of these three can be ordered with a loader and can handle a rotary mower or mid mount mower (MMM - same as a belly mower). Of course, more hp would allow you to run bigger mowers.

One other note, Kubota is just rolling out the above BX's and the older models are the BX24, BX1850, and BX2350. These are referred to as the 50 series machines while the newer versions are the 60 series. The 60 series has some nice improvements over the 50 series - metal hood and fenders vs plastic, hydraulic pressure at idle and smoother operation coming out of reverse (the 50 series jerked to a stop and was annoying to some owners).

Just wanted to lay out the models for you little more since Kubota has more sub-compact tractors than cub yanmar with basically one model.

The BX 1500 1830 2230 and 23 did not have this problem or the plastic fenders and hood.
