I purchased a low hour used kubota 9540dt last month out of state. After getting it home and running it I realized it is not going in 1st or 2nd gear in either H/L . There has been a couple of times I have gotten it in second gear and it works great and then will go back to not going back into it. I have never gotten it to go into 1st gear. Any thoughts on what I need to do?

when i brought my new M8540 (HD 12 sp) home it also wouldn't go into 1st. I finally pulled the boot over the gear shifter: a small "linkage/bracket" was not tightened up right. a quick fix that has worked 350 hrs later. u might start there.
btw the 85/9540 is about the best machinery overall i've ever operated.

It was the linkage. I tightened it several rounds and it is working great right now. Thhanks for the help. Now the pto light is staying on even when the pto is not engaged. I have to now figure out how to get the plastic cover off at the lever to adjust it.
