Kubota M9540
The tractor starts and runs fine (except for the AC not working), but when I turn the key to shut it off it stays running even with the key removed. I can stall it and it restarts fine. The AC not working and the engine failing to shut off both started at the same time. Any ideas?

Sounds like the fuel stop solenoid. I would check the fuses first especially since two items are down. You can look at the fuel injector and see the solenoid (its not inside the injector pump). You can manually operate the lever that the solenoid attaches too to shut down the machine.

I've checked all the fuses and called several dealerships to see if they had any clue. One told me that there are 10 relays behind a panel below the seat. I pulled that panel off and noticed some standing water under there. The relay box is mounted to the panel so it doesn't look like any of them were in the water but whatever else is under there probably was (wires and I have no idea what). I switched the AC blower relay and fuel stop relay around with a couple others but it didn't help. I soaked up the water and left it open to air dry. Maybe when it's dry things will work again?? My husband decided to wash the tractor while I was out of town and thought it would be a good idea to spray off the floor inside the tractor which is where the water came from. If this is what caused the problem I might be using the tractor to bury his body. He washed it Tuesday and said everything worked fine that day and the next when he moved it. Any idea what else is under the seat that I should check out?

Probaly just in the switch. I wouldnt think that washing it,wouldnt be any different then leaving an open-station 9540 out in the rain.

Jo,
Glad you posted this, about washing the inside of a cab. I thought about giving the inside floor of my cabbed B3030 a guick blast with my power washer--now I won't.
Don't be too hard on the guy--the road to **** was paved with good intentions.

Which switch? The fuel stop solenoid? It may be that but why would the AC blower stop working at the same time?

The ignition switch.
As for washing inside cab I have sprayed my 7040 out countless times but I do it from the seat and blow it out the doors.

When you turn your ign. switch to the on position does anything operate, that requires the ign. on? Lights, turn signals??

When I turn the key to the on position headlights, wipers, etc work. Everything shuts off when I turn the key off but the engine. I started the tractor and then disconnected the fuel stop solenoid and the engine shutoff so I'm thinking that part is ok and it has to be something electrical somewhere. I've tried to look at wires underneath the cab but don't see any evidence of rats chewing through them.

I just replaced the fuel stop solenoid on my Kubota ZD21. I couldn't believe the price was $142.00. A generic solenoid of that size and complexity is about $20.00.
