I am looking at buying a new to me tractor for my farm. I currently have about twenty head of cattle and have plans to grow. I currently have a kubota m8580 that its used for cutting, raking, and bailing hay and everything else around the farm now. I want a tractor big enough to use in any capacity I need in case of a failure of the m8580. I have the new kubota dm2028 disc mower, a 12' krone rotary rake, and a John Deere 335 round baler. If I upgrade any of the equipment I plan to stay in the same size category. With that said I have used a friends m9000 with his disc mower and liked the tractor. So I have been looking at at tractor and have looked at the specs listed on tractor data and can not find the difference in the m9000 and m82000, it lists the same motor the same tires and such, I did see the m9000 is a couple inches longer, About 100lbs heavier but that its it. So my question its will the m8200 do all I need and what is the opinion on which one you would buy our would you go of the best deal in either you can find. I have a kubota dealer close by and just like kubota so I'm not really considering any other brandand I'm not looking for that argument. Any advice would be appreciated

I recall the M9000 had an intercooler and developed more horsepower. Somewhere I think I have a sales brochure and recall reading that. Also, the 9000 might be a turbo and the 8200 no turbo. Also, from knowing guys that owned them they said the A/C was never very cold in these models. Not sure if you're in the heat or not--fill out your profile a little bit.

Overall, the M8200 and M9000 were regarded as great tractors.

I am in the foothills of North Carolina if you are familiar. It is warm here in the summer.
Are there known problems or solutions to make the a/c cool better just curious

I do not know on the A/C but a dealer friend of mine said it was an issue. I wouldn't let that discourage me from buying and would figure out a way to make it work. I like those tractors, along with the M6800 and would buy one if I could find one in good condition and a cab. They are a little light if you are planning tillage but great for baling or general small farm usage. You can always add weights, too.

Even having some engine issues in the past (turbo, engine overhauling) I would still say m9000 is a great tractor. Mine is most simple foldable ROPS version, without any options. sixdogs is correct, the only difference between m8200 and m9000 is turbo+intercooler. Engines are the same, well compression ratio slightly differs. Wheelbase 88.6" on both. If it needs to make a choice for reserve tractor, I would sign for m8200 - less care, no need to leave engine on for a while after high load.

Saracenas how many hours was on your m9000 when the overhaul was done. Also I have a kubota M8580 that was overhauled around 5800 hours, when it was done I listened about the kubota engines not having sleeves, as mine had to be bored and sleeved. Are the engines in the kubota m9000 the same way as far as not having sleeves.

Thanks for all the replies, I did not think about one having a turbo and the other not. I guess I will continue the hunt and see which tractor I can find at the best deal.

In addition to looking at horsepower it's good to look at cubic inches and the more the merrier. Nothing beats cubic inches. That said, I think either the 8200 or the 9000 would work for you and would be perfect in a hay operation. Wouldn't hurt to add a little weight both up front and in back if you need it.

Can't answer the question about whether they have sleeves but I wouldn't let that sway you from getting one, it's not that big of a deal to bore it and install sleeves if needed. Sounds like you are looking at some good models.
