Hope you can help me out with some advice. Thanks in advance!

In general, I am looking at buying an used Kubota M7040 or M7060 tractor with loader. I am currently considering a M7040 with only 475 hours. Seller is asking 39,000 CAD (about 30,000 USD) for it. Curious what people think of this price?

Previous owner said it was a 2015. Previous owner wasn't using it much because it didn't have a cab so he decided to trade in. CASE dealer is the seller and he says he doesn't know what year it is and didn't offer to find out for me. How do I figure out what year this tractor is? I do have ther serial number, 54898.

My other question is about creeper gears. I want to have creepers installed and I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find more info about the ground speeds for the creepers?

Any other advice for me in this situation?

Tractor data.com says the M7040 model years run from 2010 -2013. Creeper gears are an after-market installation. According to my M6040 Op Manual they have a very limited use. Only to be used when doing - deep rotary tilling & harrowing - planting - turf application. Not to be used when - pulling a trailer, front-loader operation, front-blade operation, earth moving, entering/leaving a field & loading onto and unloading operations.

BTW - my Op Manual covers - M5040, M6040 & M7040.

I can't comment on price. Price can be a very regional situation.

My M6040 has been an exceptionally fine machine. Bought it new in 2009 and not had a moments problems since purchased.

Thanks oosik. So is there anything in the manual about the ground speed of the creeper gears? This is for a specific application, a compost turner which has to be run at between 900 and 1200 ft/hour. (0.17 to 0.23 mph)

Believe the creeper is a dealer-installed option, not aftermarket.

Dealer-installed is genuine Kubota.

Aftermarket is not-Kubota.

Sorry - I meant that aftermarket creeper would be installed by the dealer. Grumpycat is correct. So, anyhow, here is the page out of my Op Manual for speeds.

So, it looks like in "creeper gear" - first gear, the speeds would fit into what you need. See the tiny note - top right hand side - "at rated engine rpm". For the M5040, M6040 & M7040 - rated engine rpm is 2600. That's wide open - max engine rpm. So there is plenty of room to play at lower rpms.

The serial number STICKER should be on the side of the frame directly over the front axle on the left side. Should have YEAR printed. My M7040SU does.

2015 would not be a M7040, might be a M7040SU, especially since no cab.

You don't say where in Canada, but if the tractor is titled it may have the correct year there, or just the year the tractor was initially registered rather than built, I've seen sellers/owners locally state something is XXXX year because of the paperwork, but impossible since that brand had been out of business that year.

Have 3 tractors on the farm that are OLDER than the "model year" on the paperwork due to this....

As far as the price, need to know if it's M7040 or M7040SU, confirm it's DT (4x4) and how many remotes etc.

This is necessary/\
My M6040 bought in 2018 was a 2010 that had 1100 hrs, loader, 1 rear remote and last but NOT least, Cab. 26k USD delivered.
I would expect an open station would be 3-5K less.

Thanks very much. I'm in Ontario. It is listed as a M7040SUD (4WD). You have helped me realize that I took a photo of the wrong serial number (the one on the back for the ROPS) but just noticed the listing says the serial number is 44342. It has 2 rear remotes.

That's just what I needed. Thanks! And I appreciate the additional note about the RPMs.
