Got a 2004 Kubota M6800 MFWD with ~1500 hrs. My dad was using it Friday and had it off and on while working. Got back on it to crank it up and it wouldn't start. I've trouble shot the glow plug relay and starter relay according to the service manual and also replaced the key stop relay. I've swapped two other relays around that were the same and are just referred to as "RELAY" in the Kubota parts manual. The trouble hasn't cleared. I've also checked the shuttle start in neutral switch below the fuse panel and it's OK according to the service manual. I haven't checked the PTO switch because the tractor tries to start but doesn't. My past experience with this is it won't try to start if it's been tripped.
I have disconnected the wires going to the lights and the main key at the fuse block under the steering wheel. When I connect the wire going to the key switch to 12v all i get is a clicking sound coming from the starting relay. When i connect the wire going to the lights to 12v, it kills the lights on the panel. But what's confusing is if i leave for a little while and come back the lights will be working and the lights on the panel will be on. When you try to start you don't get anything but a clicking. Also if I have just the wire going to the key switch connected and the light wire disconnected, I can turn the turn signal switch on and you can hear it clicking but none of the lights come on. Plus I the fuel solenoid never kicks in consistently, ever now and then it will but most of the time it does'nt.
I think it's a wiring problem between the light wire and the wire going to the start switch because i have continuity on both of these wires going to the key switch but the lights are not dependent on the key switch as you can have the lights on with the key switch off. Plus it sounds like a relay coming and going because i can leave and the lights and key switch on and the lights will eventually come back on.
I also have 12v going from the (+) terminal on the battery to the chassis ground, so I don't think that I have a grounding problem at the battery.
Any hints or help advice is very well appreciative!
