I have a Kubota M6800 that has a leak coming from the steering controller. I have looked online and to purchase a new controller it cost around $1,100.00. There is an aftermarket one that goes for arouns $600.00. I currently can not get the steering wheel off in order to remove it.
My question are:

If I am able to get this off, can a seal kit be purchased for this or do i have to buy the whole unit?

If I am able to get the steering wheel off, is there a trick to get the steering shaft removed from the steering controller box?

Thanks in Advance,

I have the same issue. Tractor steering still works but the controller area is leaking oil. Has anyone attempted to just purchase a seal kit and repaired it. Or just the oil seal ? Help ?

I've been told no repair parts available. I have to purchase a new unit.

Far as I know, there is no rebuild kit available, just exchange. Getting the wheel off is removing the hut an d striking the underside of the wheel with a dead blow mallet or using a gear puller. It's splined.

It appears from viewing Kubota M6800 parts catalog a seal kit(3A999-11980 @ $87.49) is in stock at Messicks.

Being able to utilize my old handle after not being able to log in took a few months & several personal messages to rectify. The fact that my avatar shows me as a ""new member with 9119 messages"" is of little concern to me.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

I had this issue.
Before thinking about steering controller repair or replacement check the hose tightness at the controller end first. There are 4 of them. In my case leakage concerned the hose, which comes from the hydraulic pump. It was too loose. To get access you need to remove steering wheel (special tool required or DIY one) and to remove dashboard and 2 plastic covers. Then tighten the hose. At this moment nothing to do with a steering wheel shaft.
All that - if the design of steering system of m9000 (mine) and your m6800 are the same.

P.s.: my description applied to a ROPS tractor.

Good luck on rebuilding it. The internal tolerances are extremely close. On the OS unit the controller mounts below the steering wheel. On a cab model it mounts over top the valve cover with a shaft and universal joint. If mine went, I'd just replace it. Never had that issue however.
