I would assume a pull behind would get me more width but what's the widest y'all would go? I use a 7 foot finish mower right now (when not getting someone to cut hay) on fairly flat fields.....I'm looking to cut (pun intended) my mowing time down......thanks Chris.

I think you have approximately 70 PTO hp - is that right? I have test driven an M6800 and I know it's a pretty decent sized utility.

I'm not that experienced but based on my experience with a 6' on a 50hp tractor, I think you could run an 8' very easily and a 10' without any trouble. Maybe more than 10', but I don't know. I wouldn't hesitate to put an 8' on my 5105, and I think I could run a 10' with only an occasional slowdown.

I think PTO is around 62hp (gross 71hp).....anyhow I don't mind if it bogs from time to time while mowing.......it takes about 25-30 hrs right now to cut everything, I'm just hoping not spend every bit of free time mowing!

My Ford 4610 is rated at 52hp at the pto. I pull a 10' hd Bushhog without any trouble. If your Kubota has 62hp at the pto, it'd certainly pull more than that.

10 easy, I have a TN75, 67PTO HP (on the dyno, rated at 62) and it's not even working at the 8' I have (transport issues)

You would think there would be some 12'ers around, but I've never seen one.
It is quite a jump from a 10' to a 15' batwing.

But a 10 easy for sure.

IT's hard to say what the conditions or the field have to offer a mower but I have 6800's on batwing duty on lawns at 17' three decks and doing fine at three inches weekly for the most part except in the spring. Rough cut at two to three foot tall at 10' with no trouble.

so do y'all think I can swing the bat at a 15' bat wing? don't those things weigh 3-5K? it would be great to mow that much at a time! I'll definitly look at used mowers....anything I need to look out for? it will be quite awhile before I can purchase one but I sure would like to be educated on what to look for.......thanks again......Chris.

FarmWithJunk is the man to ask about batwing shredders.

Also ask Soundguy. He has one that he bought used and did the referb on it, so he has a decent outlook as to what may need fix'n.

Weight depends on brand and model. Some extreme heavy duty models go WAY beyond 4000lbs. (Closer to 6000lbs)

62 hp would be woefully inadaquate in most conditions for a 15' batwing. 75 or 80 hp would be the minimum and that's cutting it close, pardon my pun. I run a 15'er behind 95 hp. I was mowing with it yesterday evening, cutting 12" to 18" fescue @ 4", mowing at roughly 4mph. 95 hp did the job, but wasn't overkill by any stretch.

BUT... If I'm reading the first post correctly, isn't the question about flex-wing FINISH mowers? If so, 62HP is more than ample. Conditions for finish mowing would be far less extreme than for a batwing rough cut mower.
