Hi all,

I've had a M59 pop out of gear on me twice. Once in high, once in medium. Both times going down a hill.

After the first time I'm very careful about being in gear, when I shift I check the lever and make sure it is in
place and I go forwards and backwards to see if it pops out.

I've got some sketchy work in front of me, steep hillsides, need to move 20 yards of dirt. I can't have it pop
out again, I don't have the runway to stop it. So I'm looking for insight, is this an M59 thing? I've got a B21
and it has a much more secure shift pattern, it's never popped out.

Thanks for any insight.

Suggest you re-post this in the Kubota Owning/Operating sub-forum. There are a number of M59 owners on TBN, they may be more likely to see this over there. Good luck resolving your issue. I've done similar work, and just the thought of having the tractor pop out of gear makes my neck hairs stand on end!

I have had a similar issue with my Kioti DK45. It provides an unwanted jolt of adrenaline to have the tractor suddenly take off downhill at speed!!
When this happened eight years ago, it was a shift fork problem. I'm hopeful that isn't the issue now.
So far, I have had good luck by going a gear or two lower on the steepest parts. I don't like how this slows the pace of my work, but, so far, it seems to have kept the tractor from popping out of gear.
Good luck.

You have hills in PEI?

Yep. Sadly, I happen to live in about the hilliest part, too. Out of 250 acres, I have almost zero flat land. Nearly all my cleared land is above 10% slope and some parts of the pastures and hay fields are in the 20% to 30% slope range; the wooded areas are still wooded mostly because they are even steeper.
