Case 530 Kubota M4800
Just bought a used Kubota m4800 with Bush Hog Loader,300 hrs. very nice rig,but the lift arms on 3 point hookup fall to the ground overnight, doesn't seem right to me,i called the dealer, salesman said it shouldn't be any problem as long as it holds implements up, its out of warranty.has anyone else had this happen ?

That's a pretty new tractor (2002?) to have an internally leaking hitch system. I'd be curious about how the 3 point hitch is getting its hydraulic power. With a Kubota loader there is usually a hose from the loader's power-beyond port going back to the hydraulic block under the tractor - also the mark on the selector valve on the hydraulic block should be pointing up and down, set to block through-flow. Does the loader seem to interact with the hitch arms? Do they go up when you lift something with the bucket? Does the FEL seem to have normal lifting power?

Thanx for the quick response, its supposed to be a 2005 model,i've used it very little so far, just picked it up Saturday, the loader works great,i picked up a big roll of hay with it to test it,and did some scooping at the barn,i just walked out to try to see what you were talking about,ok, there's a hose that comes off the right side of loader control valve, thats if i'm sitting on tractor (right side) it goes back and ties into the back of tractor, above 3 point,,i havn't noticed the 3 point working in conjunction with the loader, there is a remote valve also on tractor,i didn't locate the selector valve you mentioned,as its getting dark and raining,i'll try to trace it all out tomorrow,i havn't watched the 3 point as i used loader but i will tomorrow, this is my 1st loader so kind of a green horn, appreciate your help very much, thanx!

You'll have more to go on if you can mount a rear implement and see how the hitch behaves. If it holds it up off the ground and it doesn't sink with the tractor running, then it's probably fine. They all leak down a little when shut off - but it shoudln't be a lot. In fact it is good operator safety to always lower the loader and any 3-poijnt implement to the ground when you shut off or get off the tractor - that way there's no stored energy waiting to injur somebody.

Rusticater,

To be sure the hitch stays up, close the valve under the seat (CCW) and the only the cylinder is involved. If it leaks then, you need new seals onthe lift cylinder piston

The three point position control is not a close tolerance valve that would keep the load up indefinitely. Clearnace lets you move them by hand pressure. And as valves wear, the clearances increase and the leak get larger.

Rbargeron was right - the implement should be put on the ground when the engine is dead. You don't want a kid getting caught under a mounted tool that is lowering because he was messing with the handles (like all kids do) when the machine is parked.

Rule of thumb is if it sinks more than 2" in 5 minutes than it needs to be repaired.
