I have a 2014 Kubota L6060 with Cab. It had an oil leak from the steering cylinder. I removed the front axle form the tractor to get a better acces to the leaking seal but pulling the axle out, trans oil started to leak from the housing. Sounds like I am in big trouble like a seal is not doing its job anymore. I want to put everything back together and fix the new leak. Any advise, I hope I am not in to split the tractor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If its like the Kubotas Ive had the axle pivot is lubed by the front differential oil.
Is this where the leak is or where the driveshaft goes into the trans. You may have distorted the driveshaft seal on the trans when you dropped the axle. Either way its a simple seal replacement. Get yourself a WorkShopManual it will prevent a ton of grief. My steering cylinder seals are starting to seep and will have to be replaced. It looks pretty straightforward.

There is a weep hole to prevent oil from getting in there. It seems like the seal is distorted but impossible to have access to fix or replace. The more I think about it and the worse it gets : ( I workshop manual would be a good place to start for sure.

Does anybody knows how many hours to split the tractor and replace the seal at the dealer for exemple ?

Can you post a picture of the steering cylinder?

Where is it mounted?

Don't understand why you would need to split the tractor.

The first picture is the steering cylinder attache to the housing. My goal was to take it to a local hydraulic specialist. The cylinder is pressed in the housing but needs to be rotated to clear the fittings etc. Add a little bit of rust anf you get a real challenge to do it in place. I removed the hole housing but had to lower it a few inches to clear the bolts while the drive shaft was still attached. It seems like moving the driveshaft downwards affected the seal. The hole hydraulic fluid drain from around the drive shaf. My guess is that it is only accessible by splitting the tractor. So a little saturday morning mechanic project might turn out as a huge bill : (

So if you have any idea that could give me hope, it would be much appreciated. I wil call my local Kubota dealer for an estimate tomorrow morning.

The dealer estimates 12 to 15hr to replace the seal includeing splitting the tractor. The steering seal is extra. I will then send the tractor to the dealer for fixing. I hope there is not going to be too many extras.
