2010 Kubota L5740 HST and JD X734
Hello all. 2010 Kubota L5740 HST3 with 350 hours. Fueled up and moved some dead trees for about 30 minutes. Drove up to the pole barn to top up before putting away and noticed smoke coming from under hood. Popped the hood open and notice what I thought was hydraulic all spray and realized it was diesel fuel on the exhaust manifold. (!@34 the hey). Noticed that fuel was coming from the right fuel line because it was not attached to tank. When I saw the miniature wire clamps that kept it on I thought - you've got to be kidding me. I love this tractor and it's been nothing but good since 2010. So questions for the experts:

Was this a simple case of age and vibration knocking this line loose?
Why isn't their a shield to prevent spray headed for the hottest spot on the engine? Anyone modified their rig for this issue?
How often are these tiny "itsy bitsy" clamps to be replaced. Pictures attached.

Thanks,

Greg

That's pretty self explanatory.. replace the clamp w/ something from the States.. & move on..
Happy Tractoring.

I recall seeing similar lines and clamps on my previous L3410 tank. Never had a problem though. At least your machine didn't catch fire!
Does remind me of a 36" blizzard dump we had several years ago here (rare). My add on fuel filter line got a hole rubbed in it from my poor planning. It was leaking diesel throughout my 24 hours of plowing, and I wasn't real happy about the sudden poor fuel economy. Also had a front tire roll off the rim right out of the gate for the same blizzard.

Yup. Foregone conclusion. Bigger hammer (clamp).

So: My question is.......
What size dry chemical extinguisher do you have mounted on your tractor?
NONE?

Buy a GOOD quality metal valve and handle extinguisher, with machinery mount bracket.
Less that $60. Amerex comes to mind!
You dodged a bullet!
What is your tractor worth?
