I was set on buying an L5240 until reading a bunch of posts on here made me start thinking that an L48 might be a better fit for the ground engaging work I am doing, due to general beefiness.
Any thoughts or opinions? (A used fullsize TLB would probably be cheaper, but wouldn't fit my needs)
L48 has an extra hydraulic pump that allows better backhoe performance (swing & curl at the same time). It is beefier for loader & hoe work. The loader does not come off.
I've owned four machines now and ran Deere hoe's and excavators over 30 years worth and I can say owning an L48, that they are awesome machines. Very tough, three pumps instead of the usual two on machines, have mine over four years, nearing 600 hours now, and not a single problem with it. I would get one all over again if I had to and wouldn't mind personally if I had the new M59. Pricing I can't get into as I really haven't a clue what they go for now.
