KUBOTA L4740 HST POWER LOSS SOLVED

2009 L4740 hst cab tractor. Not so much power, noticed when plowing snow. Would not come up the hill as it had since I got it? All new filters still the same.Checked TBN some brake issues noted. Checked the tractor on a hill in neutral, it would roll but not freely??? Jacked up the rear end (in neutral) the wheels would spin, but seemed to drag??? Got down in the mud and pulled under for a look see??? There it was. A 3/4" dia dark colored stick hung up in the brake linkage. Removed it, the wheels spun easily. Now thinking back the parking brake had seemed a little stiffer, guess there is a reason for when something changes! As usual the Kubota problem was self imposed. Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks for posting that. I had a stick stuck in my PTO linkage that caused all kinds of confusion with the safety switch not making up properly.

Glad you found the problem and really not surprising. I pulled my L5030 in for a routine service several years ago and discovered a large stop that took over two hours to remove. It went right between wiring, hoses etc. without any damage, but a bit one way or the other would have cause serious problems.

I had a large limb stick up amongst the throttle linkage and wouldn't let the B26 idle lower than 1500 rpm even after removing the limb. I had to put a strap on it and use the fel to pull it out, it was wedged in so tight. I ended up having to remove the right rear tire and adjusting the throttle cable linkage to get it back to 1000 rpm which was as much adjustment as it had. I didn't check the other end of the cable to see if it had adjustment there as 1000 rpm was what it idled at before the incident.
