Buying Advice Kubota L45

2012 Kubota L45 any issues?

I just bought a similar machine, the John Deere 110. I got it because I was going used and it being around a lot longer as well really brought the used price down.

The L45 is similar HP to my 110, but not as large physically. If it were me, I'd look at the slightly larger, much more powerful M59 as a better option.

Be sure to get all the hydraulic options that you can. 3rd function up front, BH with the thumb, 3 rear remotes and a top n tilt. It really makes it nice to use.

The only differance in size of a L45 & 110 is the tires. The 110 is bigger on the back. But the L45 out specs it.

Nice looking L45! The L45 does spec out better than the 110, just smaller physically. The L45 is slightly smaller frame and the M59 is slightly larger frame than the 110. If I was picking between the L45 and M59, I would pick the M59, but I'm more than happy with my 110.

I agree if I needed a home machine 100% it would be a M59. Just a little heavy for some stuff and big in tight places.

I had an L3130 with BH90. I had a little over 600 hrs. on it and it never let me down. The only reason I got rid of it was because someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I bought an L45 in 2010, I love it. I have about 130 hrs. on it. I thought about the M59 but I think the L45 is the perfect size for what I need. Go for it, you won't regret it.

M59 to heavy? For its size it should be at least 1000 lbs heavier. That won't help it in the mud, but for commercial work or driving into a pile, the weight helps.

L45 is nice tractor, as Kubota beefed the front axle and curl cylinders over the L39, but he tires should be 29" dia on front and 43 " dia in rear, not he 27" Fronts and 40" rears as they are too small for the tractor.

I disagree the tires keep the center of gravity low and is spec out just right. It has a nice wide stance. And I have done several jobs on steep hills that if I had a taller tire machine I would not of even tried it.

Myself I would not want taller tires for what I do.

Just my opinion not disrespect.

if we could, we'd knock 300-400 lbs off the M59 yet to make it easier to get legal trailer loads behind a pickup.

Really? I would see it as being a lot easier to get a CDL than add weight to a backhoe. Most people who are trailering these things constantly do have CDL's anyway. I want a tractor that would do the work with the proper weight first and worry about getting it from point a to point b later.

Here are a few of mine hard at work. As you can see I obviously use mine commercially. All in all it's a good machine I had a problem with the aux front hydraulic relay. Which caused the back hoe to seized up. My dealer took care of it right away tho. I like the size and I don't like the size of the 45. I do see an upgrade to the m59 in our near future probably with a cab. The 45 gets the job done tho. It is good in tight situations and it digs for a little son of a *****. the weight of the 59 is definitely better for pulling big rocks and driving into the pile and handling large loads. I can easily move the 59 tho cause I have a drw 3500 duramax dump body. Some people it's a big machine for them to move.

I have had an L-45 since 2010. Just love this thing, tons of power for its size. I think it is the best size to do most jobs. I have 300hrs on mine the only problem I have had was that the backhoe had problems Coming off, and on. One of the pin holes had to be ground out a little. Very happy with this tractor and would highly recommend. As said above get the all the hydro options possible. I have the thumb and the valve on the front. I did not get the three aux valves on the back. I do use a 3pt logg splitter on the back, just plug it into the backhoe ports and works great.

I rented a M59 and L45 before my wife bought the 45 as a Christmas present. The M was fun (I dug and pushed up dirt everywhere on my 6 acres) and would outperform the L in all ways but is overkill for home/small farm use. The L45 did everything I asked that is reasonable (it would not pick up a ~ 2500 lb stump the 59 moved). One interesting note, the M59 felt like it tuned better in tight situations around trees although it is longer, hmmm. If you have the need, get the bigger toy but the 45 is good. I only have 27 hours on my 45 but no problems so far.:thumbsup:

I had the same problem with my M59. Sold it a couple of years ago and will be picking up my new L45 next week. What size of trailer do you have? Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread

That is a 18' trailer. I am in the process of buying a 20'. As you can see the bucket hangs over the front of the trailer so if you turn sharp it will pinch the back corner of the truck. Also the current trailer is a 10,000lb trailer. The new one is 14,000lb.
