Kubota L4200 value / life expectancy

I've found a used L4200 4x4, with a loader, LA 680, with 2300 hrs at $12.5K and was wondering if this was a good value. It has the wide turfs on the back. Owner claims to have had it serviced regularly.

What kind of life span can one expect out of it with proper maintenance? Is there a recommended overhaul time? My dad and I would be doing light landscaping, gardening, and mowing 5-10 acres.

that tractor could last 20yrs more if maintained right.our oldest tractor is 36yrs old and its still running.and it has close to 15000hrs on it.12000hrs on the 2nd motor as the 1st 1 blew early.

Tire quality?
How do the hoses look?
Does he have the shop and parts manuals?
Price sounds fair.
In January 2013 I paid $12K+ tax etc. for this M4700



It has 2 rear factory remotes, 1400 hrs, needed 2 front tires and about 4 hoses. The rear tire still had the "nubbies" on them. Came with all the manuals.

How does the tractor look in person? Does it look like it's been well maintained as the current owner claims? You can usually take a few mins of walking around a tractor and running it for a min and tell what kind of shape it's in. I will say that I'm a lot more comfortable buying a used tractor then I am a used car. I've seen tractors with only 700 hours that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole and seen some with 4000 hours that I wished I woulda jumped on and regret letting them pass me by.

No rear remotes or canopy,
Hoses look very good, didn't ask if they'd been replaced but saw very little cracking
Rear industrial turf tires I'd estimate at 50%' front turfs at 75%

The tractor looks in very good condition. I'd have guessed it was a 500 hour machine.

Anything else I should look over besides leaks, general condition, and a better look at hoses.
I was unable to operate it as the owner wasn't around at the time I viewed it.

I'm guessing it served as a golf course tractor at one point in its life or a sod farm. Is he the original owner?

He is the original owner, and it was a sod farm tractor. They got out of the business. How'd you guess that? The industrial turfs?

You need to decide if those turf tires will work for your intended uses of the tractor. If they won't, you can sink a lot of money into replacement tires/wheels, which can make a good deal into a not-so-good deal.

Yes - you should price out tires if they are 50%. If you decide to switch to an Ag tire/wheel set it might cost a grand or two.
