Kubota L3800 HST 4x4
I just bought a L3800 HST 4x4 with a loader and was wandering if it will be the right size for my little farm?

Its only about 10 acres. All we are doing is bush hogging about 3 acres. We have a four foot bush hog but in the future we may get s bigger one we just got to wait cause we just bought the tractors and as you know tractors are not cheap. But we are just trying to keep the property cleaned up. And also we are wanting to buy a disc at some point

No problem, you are going to love it. Fear not, you have the proper tool for the job, and lots more. Most people would put a 5 ft on it. I have a 4ft also, because that is what I had left over from the last tractor, and I dont have that much to mow now. If you do any loader work, you will love that HST.

First thing before you pick up your first load is make sure you have weight on the 3 point hitch, the rotary cutter will help, but a good ballast box with about 750 lbs is even better..unless you cutter is really heavy. see my signature line. Also highly recommend loading the tires with the fluid of your choice, Rimguard, RV anti-freeze or Windshield Washer fluid, dont recommend Calcuim Cloride, unless tubed tires, and even then if you have a leak you have to deal with what amounts to salt water spraying on your shiny new sheet metal. With proper ballast on the 3pt, and loaded tires your new rig will be much safer, and you will "feel" much safer on it. When you get your "naked" tractor, and pick up about 700 lbs or so, when one or more rear wheels come of the ground, you will know what I mean. My L3400 is just an older model of what you have with a couple less horsepower. The loader is the same La463 and the chassis and capability is the same. Good luck, carry you loads low, and go slow, and have fun.. Your are gonna love that machine.

Yea the dealer is putting the water/antifreeze in the rear tires. But yea i do not see using the loader very much but we may who knows haha. Our loader is a la524. Are these loaders any good at digging out areas, we are wanting to slowly dig out our pond while the water is low?

Enjoy it!

Mine is older and just a touch smaller for our 12 acres. After our horses were gone, the usage dropped off considerably. However I will keep it for snow plowing, rotary cutting and supporting the used back hoe that I bought for it.

The only size problem I ever had was realizing that it was too big to clean out the horse stalls. oops.....

FYI: The backhoe is by far the best thing since sliced bread!!

I don't think we will have that size problem since we have no horses haha

I sure can't beat the advice given by James.

As to the pond, my son and I just spent two full days mucking out a very small pond, less than half an acre with our L5030 and M8540. While it was fun, we really didn't have the time to finish it the way we wanted and next time will probably rent an excavator.
