All the hoses on my 28 year old L35 are original. The long hose from the valve box at the bucket joy stick to the back of the tractor is leaking at the quick connect fitting.

Does anyone happen to know the "hose assembly length"? I would prefer to have the new hose on hand before taking the old hose off.

I can read the spec for the female fitting. Is there anything special I need to know about the threaded end when I order a hose?

If there are any 'surprises' in store for a rookie mechanic (me) replacing this hose, please let me know.

I take the old hose, here I need one just like this. Now, you can go to your dealer and pay a dead even twice what a hydraulic shop charges. And, it will be the same hose and ends. Or, you can try to measure it. But you have to make sure you know what type and size fittings you have, and that baby's on you, if it don't fit. If you take the hose with you, the baby's on them,

Agree with Roustabout: Wait for the next fluid change out, and take all the hoses you need to replace to a local that makes hose. Here, that is the tractor repair guy, NAPA, or CarQuest.

Turns out there is a shop that makes hoses not that far away. I will pull the bad hose off, clean it up and take it in.

Saved a bunch of money replacing hoses on my B20 from Surplus Center. Better two wire hoses with tuff guard outer jacket. Military grade. A few 4-6” longer no problem.

Even your local hydraulic shop have several grades on hose. OEM hoses tend to be cheap so be sure to upgrade.

Yup, take old hose and have them match it up.

Alot of hoses on backhoes are difficult to route though. So what I do is tie a string to one end of the hose and pull the hose out from the other end.

Now you have a string where the hose normally goes. When the new hose is made......tie one end to the string and pull it back through.

This works really well if you ever have to replace hoses that go through boom or something like many backhoes do

Better off with an Aerquip-Parker dealer or Fastenal. Both will have a complete line of not only hoses but the coryect fittings and both can make up what you require, while you wait. Been my personal experience that that discount AP stores (not NAPA) don't know their butts from a hole in the ground.

I've had two hose shops make hoses for my loader. Neither one of them had the correct hex size on the fitting. They were larger than the original and will cause interference if I put the same size next to the new ones. Last time I went to the dealer and they had the correct size fitting and were actually cheaper than both hose shops. They were a little faster too. The only reason I went to the hose shops was because they are closer and the roads were terrible with snow at the time.
