Kubota L305DT steering wheel hardened and 3 point Hitch won稚 raise

Hello everyone,

My name is Victor and I am from Brownsville, Texas.

Recently I inherited a Kubota L305DT from my dad and I am a complete novice. I had used the tractor, when it worked, to mow acres but that is as much experience I have had on the tractor.

The Problem:
About 2 years ago, my dad was driving the tractor when all of a sudden he felt the Steering wheel become hard and unyielding. And the 3 point hitch dropped to the floor bring down the hitched mower deck. Here is the sad part. My dad unhitched the mower deck and parked the tractor on the side of the house for 2 years. Hehehehe...Yes! 2 years.

Here is where I come in the picture. I took the tractor from my dad. Yesterday I bought a battery at Walmart, hooked it up, and we were able to turn on the engine again after years of being idle. Is it not amazing?! These things are beasts...

I bought a parts manual for the tractor.

Here are my current problems:

1. The steering wheel still hard
2. The Lift Arms will not lift ... the PTO works well...

Any help will be greatly appreciated wonderful forum!

PS... Oh, does anyone know where to buy a digital or hard copy Owners Manual of the L305DT Kubota? Please lead me in the right direction. I so appreciate this group. Thank you once again for reading this far

This might give you an idea about what's going on with the steering.

Sounds to me like a loss of hydraulics. I'd start with simple troubleshooting, checking fluid level, look for leaks or busted hoses, etc.

Airbiscuit, thank you so much! Great video! Will be looking into more videos as to how they repaired the steering wheel.

What do you attribute the (Lift arms) not raising? Is there a correlation between steering wheel and the lift arms not raising the mower? PTO was working fine.

Do you know of any videos out there that goes over how to check the Hydraulics on a Kubota L305DT or something similar? Thank you so much!!!

Does your tractor have power steering.

Other posts say change the hydraulic filter, clean the screen.

I don't know the ins and outs of your hydraulics, but here is another clue.

I'm just stabbin at things, but from a different thread...

06 kubota L2800 power steering

on my kubota L2800 there seems to be some lag in the power steering.. when i turn the wheel its really stiff for a second and then lightens up and turns.. its getting really annoying can anyone lead me in the right direction to fix it?

Check your suction return hose under your right fuel/brake pedal,they tend to crack and leak air then start causeing problems with hydralics on L3400/L2800 models.

The hose is 1 and 1/2 inch in diameter (give or take) it turns 90* and very roughly about 6 inches long both ways. Pretty easy to change out and cost about $25. I looked for a photo but didn't find one...

Hey thanks guys you nailed the problem right away, thought i was in for a trip to the shop, a little alcohol and duct tape patched it right up till i get the parts ordered

@airbiscuit thanks these threads help plenty .... the first video makes perfect sense as the steering wheel was wobbly and Tractor left outside.

What I cannot understand is the 3 point hitch having no power.

Yes the tractor had power steering or shall we say was soft and not hard.
