I have a chance to buy a 2001 model L3010 HST 4WD with 229 hours on it. It is priced at $10500 and the dealer is exchanging the original turf tires and wheels to industrial tires and new wheels on all four corners. The dealer is eating the cost of this (saleman claims that they are a $2000 dollar cost, which I don't doubt ).

Is this a good price? The dealer has already said that the asking price is as low as they will go.

Our property is 35+ acres, with around 8 acres being foodplots, or tall grass, with a bunch of sweetgum and maple saplings thrown in for good measure in this 8 acres. If we buy it, we do intend to get a brush cutter for now, as that is the most pressing need right now, as well as a tiller and possibly a FEL in the future. There are some minor slopes, but nothing severe. Will a 5' brush cutter be OK for this size tractor, or should we go with a 4'? Same goes with the tiller.

Thanks in advance.
Regards, Colin

I think you are getting a lot of tractor for that price, and had relatively gentle use, if it was used for mowing only? For a price comparison; type in tractorhouse.com, select tractor under 40 hp, select Kubotas, and your model. This is a dealer that sells on consignment nationwide, which will give you a good starting point for value? A loader added will cost approximately $3500 +-?

Before you purchase a brush cutter, consider the manueverability of using it between trees and etc. The rule of thumb for a brush cutter is 5 hp/ foot of width, but consider transporting it also. I went with a 4 footer for my acreage, which allows me to carry it in my pick-up if needed, plus the problem with trees. They can be purchased relatively cheap, and you may consider two sizes for your use with open fields? Anything bigger than 4' cutter requires a trailer or flatbed to relocate; unless damage to your vehicle isn't a concern?

Hey Colin,

I purchased my L-3010 HST 4x4 with loaded AG's, and suitcase weights last summer for that exact price with a woods BB48 included. When I got her she had 150 hours on her. I guess if you factor in the price of the tire swap it would be about the same as the deal I got, and I thought I got a steal.

The machine can handle the 4 foot cutter with ease. I feel it would handle a 5 footer without a problem. If you got a loader, or some suitcase weights on the front it will balance out nicely.

Not a bad price. I purchased a L3010 GST 4x4 with LA481 with the adjustable lower links on the tph about a month ago for $12,600 plus tax, so you are definitely in the ball park. Mine has 466 hours on the clock. I see 3010's regularly priced in the 14's. Mine was barn kept and well maintained. I was able to discuss it with the original prior owner who just decided he needed a much larger tractor. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It's a nice tractor with a lot of power. You'll enjoy it.

Did you ever get the FEL? I am looking at a l3010 with no loader too and concerned that I can find one that fits.

Thanks for any info.
