Kubota L3010 HST leaking UDT from plunger underneath engine!

Ok , I am new here...hope someone can point me in the right direction.Got onto the 3010 today and noticed a large puddle of hydraulic fluid underneath the engine. The tractor still operates...but the source of the leak appears to becoming from this round tube/cover that passes between the oil pan and goes to the front axle..Also dripping from the plunger looking valve drain under in the same area. Are there lines inside this round housing that supply fluid and power to the front axle or is it a drive shaft.....I have not tried tearing into it yet....where should I start...or is it a seal in there...if I fill up the fluid everything works fine...so it's not my pump or anything....just a slow leak....like drip..drip...drip...its not gushing out from underneath.

Thanks for any help

Nate

oil driping from the plunger looking thing is drain for the clutch. and the tube going to front differential is for the propeller shaft neither would seem to be cause of oil leak I would clean the area good and look for a problem higher and leaking down past these areas.
The power steering control is above this area and has steering line that could leak Also refueling the tank also has a drain that over fill could leak down into this area.

The leak is coming from the little plunger....I got down under it earlier and examined the tractor. It is definitely UDT leaking from inside the housing where the engine and tranny join. This is on a HST - Hydrostat. I live in tx and we had a really bad cold spell few weeks back....90 hours of below freezing...wind chills in the teens and lower....that is when I first noticed a slow leak ....but thought it would go away once it warmed. I did use the tractor during this time....wondering if the cold UDT fluid blew some seal inside? I am hoping this thing does not have to be split.

The Fluid is overflowing to the top of the front driveshaft and that's why the tube that goes over the shafts leaking...figured that one out.

An older, but similar model, the L2900 had problems with the seal around the front wheel drive propellor shaft where the shaft exited the main transmission case. The shaft and seal are inside the tubular housing you mention. The seal did not fit tightly enough in the transmission case and would slide out to the front, causing a leak between the seal and the transmission case. You can remove the tube and push the seal back into the transmission case, but it does not stay long. The cold weather might have loosened yours. I can't recall the thermal coefficients of expansion/contraction for steel (the seal) and aluminum (the transmission), but I know they are not the same.

Kubota made a fix kit for the L2900 that was a spring and washer around the propellor shaft that kept light force on the seal so it could not slip out of the transmission case.

Your newer model may have the same issues.
