KUBOTA L2800DT
Hello everyone, I am in the process of buying a tractor. Kubota L2800D or the Massey Ferguson 1528 both are the same price, horsepower, dealers same distance apart ect. I will be working the tractor in the woods, towing the wood out, rotary cutting, also alot of bucket work have horses. I am having a hard time making my mind up. Both are top notch tractors. So im asking all of you for your opionions and advice, it would be appreciated. Than You Tom

When I bought my L2800 three years ago I found about the same price on the MF,John Deere and Kubota. My decision came down to the fact that Kubota had the 36 month no interest and John Deere had two years and MF had none.

I haven't regretted my choice.

I came real close to buying the 1528, its a nice tractor. They spec out about the same... I believe the 1528 has a good bit more 3ph lift capacity, and the l2800 a bit more fel lift, and ground clearance.

Drive them both, and if you're still undecided, choose the dealer you feel the most comfortable with.

Either one is a good choice.

Same for me. I was torn between M/F and Kubota. I don't really think you can make a bad choice. Go operate each if possible and see what feels comfortable. You may like Kubota's loader control positon better than M/F or some other similiar items.
When I drove an L2800 around a parking lot and operated the loader it just felt right to me. Very comfortable for my size. I ended up purchasing an L3400 just for the extra horsepower. Good luck, Brian

TOM: In my fleet, I own all three major brands. The Kubotas are the most trouble free over the last 30 years. I like all of them however! Kubota engines are extremely smooth and reliable, which was always a selling point for me. My L2800 is a gear drive (shuttle shift). It takes a couple of hours to get used to it, but is a pleasure to use. If loader work is your primary use, I would consider the HST. The downside is the L2800's three point with the inching valve, instead of the infinite position control like most others. I understand Kubota will upgrade it for free? If you are using a backblade or boxscraper; the infinite position control is important for smoothness. Also, you will run out of traction before HP. I would spend the time and do your homework before purchase.

If you plan on heavy use of the PTO; check the thread on this site about the clutch problems with extreme use?! Also, research your tire choice; if traction is an issue consider R-1's, but may not be as "puncture proof" as R-4's, but chains can be added for traction. Good luck to you on your decision!
