I thought I would post this for the info. My alternator quit charging about a year ago. I took it to a local alternator shop and they told me it couldn't be repaired because of the price or the availability of the parts. I called my kubota dealer and I think a new one was over $300. My 2500 uses the battery to start the engine only plus whatever lights I would run. So a good charge in the battery would last for months. I would start the engine and then turn off the key to save the battery. I just couldn't get with that $300 price tag for an alternator. I have had a search on ebay for 8 months hoping someone would list an alternator for my tractor. Finally I searched the archives on this forum and found a post about a store on ebay called rareelectical. I looked him up and nothing for my tractor. I sent him an email with the nippendenso numbers from my alternator. He sent me a listing for an alternator for a Yanmar. I replied back asking if this is correct for my L2500. He replies back and tells me he listed it with my Kubota model number so there would be no confusion. This all happened in about 10 minutes on July 4th. I got the alternator on the 9th. He said my mine was a 30 amp and his was a 40 amp. The pulley on the original alternator was 2 5/8 in and his was 2 3/4 inches. Wasnt a problem, just rolled the belt over the edge and it fit fine. The post for the charge lead was off 90 degrees and a little excessive in length. I couldn't get the rubber boot over the post. I cut about 3/8 in off the post to solve that problem. The wires plugged right in. The unit came with a signed performance sheet and is made in China. For $129 plus $15 shipping my Kubota is now in charge mode. Wasn't real thrilled about the Chinese deal but it worked fine. I guess time will tell. I'm happy and my battery thanks me.
