Ken, My machine also started only with a small leak of fluid, then the seal finally weakend and seperated around the shaft and began pushing alot more fluid up into the clutch housing. One day when I started it, fluid was running out of the timming cover port on the left side of clutch housing. I purchased a manual through intertec shop guides and it covers this machine pretty well despite reviews I found that others wote about it. I did perform all the work myself. My machine has a loader so separating hydraulic, stearing linkage, supporting both haves , then using a engine hoist to hold the transmission section when I unbolted made it easy by myself.
Once you slide the shaft out of the clutch housing then unbolt the back of the transmission housing from the back of the machine you will have 4 14mm bolts to remove the shaft. Then you will be able to see the $2.00 seal that caused a day of knuckle bustin'. While I was in there I replaced the clutch ($49.00)and a couple other seals ,all parts from local kubota dealer that were ordered and took a couple weeks. Job took 4 hours to seperate, replace parts, and also drill out and tap a broken bolt from clutch housing from previous owner.
Please reply if you need anymore info. I hope I can help.
What kind of shape is your machine? I am currentley searching for a new or replacement hydraulic pump. Kubota dealer wants $911 bucks. If you know anything about this please help!!
Good Luck, Joe
