I'm a very competent mechanic, but looking for a little guidance before I split this little workhorse. I've done lots of work on my old massey 65 so I figure the little kubota should be pleasant to work on since it is only about 1/3 of the weight
I fear that I have done this through being foolish and running too large of a PTO tiller... however, I'm hoping that I haven't done anything too bad... Now for reasons that I do not know, the PTO will just stop working, I can push the clutch in and out a few times and it will start back up again and be fine, till it decides to give out again...
Could this be a clutch issue? The tractor seems to drive just fine and I can put it in high gear with no noticable clutch slip to the wheels.
I have heard of an internal over-run mechanism that might have broken, does this sound likely?
Or... do you think I have broken something else more vital?
It seems to be getting worse, it first happened while running the tiller, then it would happen every so often while mowing, today it happened like 4 times and once when it did finally catch, the little tractor shuddered pretty hard while it was spinning up...
I'd appreciate some advice from someone who has been inside these things, I have a service manual that came with it, a photocopy of the real one... but... It isn't nearly as good as the one I have for my massey, it gets pretty detailed but is quite confusing and is also printed with poor english...
anyhow, thanks in advance!
