Kubota L1500 - Engines & changing engines

Hello,
I recently purchased a Kubota L1500 (2 cyl diesel, ~16 HP) [grey tractor I assume] and have a few questions the forum may be able to assist with.

1. I am chasing the weight of it without implements.

2. My searching of the net indicates it has a Z750 or Z751 engine, but don't know where to look to confirm which & what the difference is between the Z750 & 751.

3. Does anyone know the make of the Z750 / Z751 engine?

4. I am finding it is just a little underpowered for my needs and wondered if one of the Kubota or other make of engines may bolt directly to the transmission housing & correctly mate with the clutch & spigot. If yes - please advise make & model of engine. (And any other issues / modifications that are likely to be be required.)

5. Alternatively the make & model of the transmission housing may assist.

6. Finally if anyone has made a similar modification and if they had any issue of other parts breaking due to the increased power. Photos of the mod would be be wonderful.

Welcome to TBN, Daniel. I'm no expert, but did some checking if there was any information that might be helpful. The engine in an L1500 was a Z750, made by Kubota. A few people have considered swapping out the Z750 for a replacement engine with more power, evidently without much success, because the Z750 block was part of the structure in the front end of the little tractors that had those engines, while larger engines were designed to mount inside an actual tractor frame. Those folks concluded it would require too much modification to adapt another engine to fit their tractors. Here's one thread that discusses this topic, from another forum.

I notice you have / an interest in Farmall Super A.

I am rebuilding one, but am in need of a carby & possibly engine overhaul kit. US / Canada seems to be the place for these.
Do you by chance know if anyone makes the original 3.00" dia cylinder sleeve & corresponding piston and rings for the C123 engine? I can only find 3.125" dia sleeves etc.
