Before you start using the aftermarket filter do a little experiment. Take a Wix or Fram filter and an oe filter. Cut both of them open with a hacksaw and compare. There's a reason the oe is more expensive, and it's not cause the dealer is doubling his profit. In fact, I suspect the part houses make more percentage wise on the aftermarket ones then the dealer does on the oe.
The other problem with aftermarket filters is they try to make them to fit as many applications as possible. So sometimes the filter matches the mounting flange correctly, sometimes they don't. Think of what would happen if a seal on an oil filter blows out while you're concentrating on the task at hand. It takes only a few seconds of no oil pressure and the engine bearings are scored for life.
