Hello,

I just purchased a 1981 Kubota B6100HST with hydrostatic transmission. In the general area of the mid pto shaft, I am getting an approx 1 drip per second leak. I am not knowledgeable on this tractor. Does anyone have any idea of what the cause of the leak might be??? Also wonder if the repair is something I can tackle or must the dealer take care of it.

Thanks a ton for any reponses!

I believe the mid pto shaft is actually a seperate casting with a spur gear inside just like a PTO on a truck. If I remember correctly, 4 bolts and it comes off (be sure to drain the oil first). There will be a seal on the inside end of the shaft that presses into the housing. Time for a new one. You might have to replace the shaft if it is worn badly from the seal friction. I don't think you can get a wear sleeve for it.
