I doubt either machine would do any given chore significantly better than the other one would. I bought a Kioti, but would have been just as happy with a Kubota. Came to $ difference between the two for me. I couldn't justify the extra expense of the Kubota at the time for my occasional tractor needs. If money is not a factor for your friend, I would say test drive both machines, and pick what suits him best. I do know that when I was searching, some of the tractor brands that looked good on paper had lousy ergonomics for me when I actually drove them. If the pedals/FEL joystick/seat/controls/whatever is awkward during a test drive of any machine you're test driving, I'd go look at something else. The first tractor I test drove wasn't orange, and I had high hopes going into it, but after a couple of minutes it was apparent that machine wasn't for me. Steering wheel was too close even with the seat all the way back, same with the pedals. FEL joystick was on the loader instead of the fender, and I couldn't reach it without leaning forward, at which point the non-tilt steering wheel was digging into my gut. Nope. Finally found a tractor that "fit" me in the Kioti. Had to spend more to get the NX series Kioti over the other color I test drove first, but I'm glad I got something that I can use comfortably anyway.

I am pretty much the same, if money is not the object, or they are pretty close in price, then I suggest as above, spend some time on both, and pick the one that fits you the best.

Kioti has not gained much traction here and not sure even know anyone who owns one. So have nothing to base any true thoughts on their product. Have looked at them few years back and to me they had features that impressed me on the ones I looked at compared to what I saw on Kubtoa which at that time owned two.

I recently bought a L6060 with cab. I believe it is a well made product but were I to be buying today would look further into the JD 4000 series. The JD was some higher and no side windows just large cab doors. The cab doors was the biggest reason I passed on the JD. Now what about the Kubota makes me say that? I have loader with 3rd function and two rear remotes. One with float and the other was suppose to be self cancelling. Well having near 100 hours on it many by my grandson have never cared for the rear remotes. They "feel" like electric joy toggle switches and not true hyd valve controls to me. Third tractor I have owned with rear remotes and these have NO feeling with them. The self cancelling valve that was suppose to be on my tractor is not a true self cancelling valve and the float is hard to set in float due to the slot for that lever. I have owned JD and Kubota M with rear remotes and the L6060 are more like toys.
The seat in the L6060 for many people is weak. This is true of the mechanical and their air ride seat. My dealer did not recommend the air ride when buying and then recommend it to be installed trying to solve support problem. Look here and other forums to see this complaint over and over. The max their seat is suppose to handle is 260 with no other option and the fact is people even as low weight as 200 have issue with the seats. The front end of the tractor must have a grill installed by the owner if you will be using in brush or trees for fel work to protect it. I was told you can raise and curl bucket both at same time, manual says you can not and can tell you the curl function is not strong when lifter the loader.

What I like about it: Really like the HST with the two speeds in each range. Really great feature. The auto throttle another great feature. A/C has worked great with the high temps we have had for few weeks or upper 90's to low 100's for days in a row. I have loader tires and have been pleased with how I am even able to pull my 10 foot pull type box blade with it. Now I must take it reasonable in what I expect but doing so can still use it. NOT WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST FOR IT. Display is good. Like having access through the side windows for operating lift and remotes for connecting implements and also air flow.

The tractor handles well, decent to shift range and into and out of 4 wheel drive. FEL is good also to operate. Now near as efficient as was on my JD but had hours on it. Hope you well in your decision. One tractor I considered and lack of local dealerships in my area was Yanmar was main reason I passed on it. It came with dual rear remotes the Kubota did not and seems one or two other features. Liked the transmission design it has. Kenneth

OH, if clearance is an issue and will be adding fel be sure you know what the clearance is after the fel brackets are installed.

HST Plus transmission is great. Make sure you demo those features and see what Kioti has to compare with the Kubota transmission. How large of an operation do the dealers have? How complete of an operation do the dealers have? How long before you can take delivery? How much price difference?

I looked at the same two and took a chance with Kioti this time. I've got 25 hours on my NX6010 so far.
I purchased on dealer this time. Kubota is consolidating dealers in my area (Southwest TN). Two local family owned dealers had their Kubota dealerships pulled. One of those was a LONG time Kubota dealer and sued Kubota over it as well as picked up Kioti. I bought from him.

It would be awesome to know why Kubota pulled their contract. That said great dealership support is important for many new tractor owners.

There is a new Kubota supposedly "super store" being built right in between where the two dealers who got theirs pulled. They've broken ground and are clearing / leveling the lot now.

The dealers that got pulled were older locations. The tiff from what I understand is they weren't as willing to invest in the skid steers / track loaders and mini ex's that Kubota wanted them to.

10 years ago I bought the previous Grand L model for the HST+ transmission. After owning it I can say without a doubt there's no way I would buy a tractor that didn't have the two speed HST. I use it every time I use my tractor. I rarely ever shift out of M (medium). Other than that I'm not sure if there's enough differences between the two other than which one feels right.

Local small engine shop here carried Stihl chainsaws for decades, then the Stihl sign was gone one day, and a Husqvarna sign was hanging there instead. When I stopped in there to get a belt for my Ferris ZTR one day, I asked him about the brand switch. He said that Stihl was pulling dealership status from anyone that refused to carry at least $100,000 of inventory in their store. This shop is in a very rural area, at least 30 minutes from anything resembling a town. He's always busy, but its mainly just the local farmers and landscapers having work done. No way he could move $100,000 of Stihl products in a reasonable time frame. So they basically forced him out. He still works on Stihl stuff for the locals, since most of them were originally purchased from him anyway. Hearing his story, and how he was being a stand-up guy still supporting his Stihl customers after Stihl screwed him over, I bought a brand new Husky 572XP from him right then. Best dam saw I ever owned, and got to support a local small business owner at the same time! Win-win!
