Is it worth paying the extra bucks for a Kubota oil filter or can I just find a Fram equivalent and save some money.

I have a drawer full. They are full synthetic media. A lot of paper media filters, usually indicated by reputation, have or had a tendency at one time to simply fail and activate a built in bypass. Better dirty oil than none. Sometimes the media itself will tear, as well. There used to be website that an individual had compiled a vast array of different filters that were cut open afterwards. He was eventually shut down by legal action taken upon by some large manufactures that did not do well in his study. There was and may still be a mirror of the site existing somewhere out there. It was a great piece of lab work.

Under warranty? I would buy a Kubota filter to avoid any possible hassle with a warranty issue.

Out of warranty? I would still buy the Kubota filter because, really, are you going to save that much money? You won't save much money vs. buying a comparable filter from another reputable manufacturer. And that list does not include Fram. ;)

I only use Kubota filters. Going aftermarket isn't worth it on machines this expensive.

I just as soon stick w/factory,because something should go wrong easier to talk w/dealer than 800 number etc. etc...might pay tad more but peace of mine worth it.

I stick with OEM as the savings are inconsequential to me at least.

Fully aware I run against the grain here on TBN with this issue. First, I use only Kubota HST filters. I do not believe there is an equivalent to be found and so there will be no risky business over that one.

On the oil filter? Here's where I take a different point of view. It isn't going to cure cancer or solve world peace, but I just don't want a Kubota oil filter that is made in China. Not when I can buy a Hastings/Baldwin with great quality and made by Huskers in Nebraska. No big deal, it's just what I do.

(btw, Go Big Red)

With a baldwin filter, you still get a great filter. Fram filters are junk, won't even run one on my lawn mower. They cost me an engine in 2003, the oil pump sucked the filter media out and it clogged the pickup at 7500 RPM.
