kubota f3060
I have new to me Kubota f3060 that decided not to start. When I turn the key to the start postion it fires up but as soon as I release the key to the run position it instantly cuts out. I replaced the ignition switch but the same thing is happening. If I unplug the fuel stop solenoid the engine will crank but will not fire. Is there a key switch timer between the ignition switch and fuel stop solenoid? Is the fuel stop solenoid wired to the starter that is shutting it down? Is there any kind of fuse or relay in between the ignition switch and fuel stop solenoid? The resistance of the 3 wire fuel solenoid are red/white-230 ohms, red/black-230 ohms, white/black-0.5 ohms. I also don't see a fuse block anywhere. I only see a group of three fuses on the right side of the frame. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have an operators/service manual unfortunately.

"The resistance of the 3 wire fuel solenoid..."

It sounds like it has a pull/hold solenoid. The pull coil to start is fine but the hold coil is not strong enough to hold for the tractor to continue to run.

Did you check the fuses?

Do not know your F3060, but with my BX2200 I have a similar solenoid, which works as ruffdog described. My hold coil failed and the symptom was the same as yours. If you unplug the solenoid the engine will not start because the neither coil will work.

You could have a blown fuse. The low reading of 0.5 ohms would cause most fuses to blow, except maybe the main fuse (which on my tractor is 30 amp).

On my solenoid there was a low reading coil, but in my case it is fed through the starter solenoid circuit, and that circuit limits current flow. My tractor's circuit is obviously different than yours, as if I unplug the fuel cutoff solenoid, the engine will not crank.

IF you remove the solenoid and watch what happens when you crank the engine you will get a better idea of what is happening. The solenoid should pull in and stay pulled in when the key is returned to the on position. If you do this be aware the tractor will start and you will have to put the solenoid back in to shut it down.

Actually, you could just turn the key to the on position and push the solenoid plunger (armature) in and see if it stays pulled in until the key is turned to the off position. Likely it will not...

One wire should be hot during cranking, one will be hot during "run", one is ground.

Does your tractor have any gauges, meters or lights that come on when you turn the key to ON (not start)? If not, perhaps the "ignition" circuit is open. Either a loose connection or fuse.

Thank you all for the input. I pulled the fuel stop solenoid and tested it on the bench. Just like Ruffdog said the pull coil worked fine but when I tested and manually held in the hold coil it would not stay in the hold position. Hopefully that is all that is wrong with it. Funny enough, I have a well used 2005 Toro Groundsmaster 3100D that started to do the same thing a couple of weeks earlier. Its a bit of a rats nest to work on though.
