Kubota diesel motorcycle

It would be fun to build one of those. With the right tranny and running gear, a 25 or 30-horsepower diesel would take you down the road a long way at a decent clip.

The bike built by Jeff Parker has a hydro transmission.
I wonder if those bike builders get into the gear vs hydro arguements?

You'd think they run a dual cone drive, no shift points just smooth driving.

Cool idea...

I saw this one a while back and though I'm not a sport bike kind of guy, thought it was awsome... 97mpg(if I remember correctly).... Follow the link and check out the pictures... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I would love to see Harley step up and produce something like this in a touring bike with a CVT... Popular Mechanics in the 1970's took an Austin Healey Sprite and dropped in a 25 HP Yanmar 3 cylinder engine. It had a top speed of 65 in Overdrive and delivered 65 mpg all day at that speed. Torque was such that 1st wasn't needed much. Pretty slow by today's standards but an interesting article.

The US Marines has a diesel motocycle. It's a Klr-250.

When I first saw how small my Bolen's engine is, I thought it'll make a great motorcycle engine. Because a Harley's tranny is a seperate unit from it's engine, I feel a Harley's tranny would be perfect.
