I have a kubota D722 that is in my Clubcar UTV. Roughly 430 hours on it so it's not even broken in yet.
Recently my wife was driving the UTV and it cut off while driving through our lawn. It will crank but not start.
I checked to make sure the engine was getting fuel. All 3 injectors are getting clean fuel. I pulled the valve cover off and all 3 cylinders rockers are moving as they should. I took off the intake hose and cranked the motor over and there is noticeable smoke coming out of the intake plenum. I am not sure if this is indicating that there is a broken compression ring and it's blowing compression back into the intake....or if this is normal. I put my hand over the intake opening and while cranking it did not create a huge suction nor did it push my hand off by compression. The smoke coming from the intake smelled like straight ether.
If a cylinder broke a compression ring.....the other two would fire? So why would the engine not fire at all? To much of a coincidence to loose all 3 cylinders at once? What else could cause it to not fire?
YouTube There is a video of it turning over. The motor does not sound like it usually does either....a little different but hard to tell what's different.
I don't have a compression tester to test compression yet.
I thought about pulling the head to see if there is anything obvious going on under the head, but really not mentally ready to tackle it yet. I wouldn't think it would be 3 injectors failing simultaneously?
