Kabota BX25
Good day all, I have a Kubota BX25 and have just purchased the cyclone rake Z10 with MDA adaptor. The mower deck is a 54" standard cut. QUESTION: Inside the mower at the discharge end is a metal plate that reduces the discharge chute opening and angles towards the rear. It bolts from underneath to the front lip of the mower. Should this plate be removed or should I leave it in to angle the air flow in a rearward direction. it reduces the discharge opening by close to half of its full width. Thanx in advance for any advice provided. PS I have taken it off for now.

Well, I had to walk out to the shed and look at my BX25 with the 54" standard cut deck. No such plate on mine. Did you get the mulching kit with your deck? Perhaps a pic would help. In any case, a larger discharge area would be better all other things being equal, I would think.

Oh, I also have a CR, but an older version than your Z10. Congrat's on the Z10 by the way.

We just hooked the MDA up to our BX25 today. Did not see any such plate. Granted, we have the 60" deck, but they should be similar...

Thanx Kyle, was your MDA yellow (like mine) or green. Also the mounting plate for mine has 3 screws on the rear side and only one on the front side (attached to the boot). The instructions said to mount another bar diagonally fixed under the front and center rear screws but when I placed it, it sat up on the boot and the center screw was not long enough to reach through and the nut screwed on, The instructions did not say anything about bending the bar. I'll have to call them Monday. Please let me know how yours mounted and if you had an easier time of it. Thanx again.

It's yellow. I'll try to get you a picture of how we mounted ours tomorrow. Here is a picture from CHDinCT, but he has the green MDA.

I am familiar with the angled plate you describe. I have a BX25 with a 54" deck regular cut and I have no such plate. My father-in-law has a BX2660 with a 60" deck regular cut deck and a dealer installed Kubota bagger and his deck has the plate you describe that directs the clippings into the boot that is attached to the deck.

Not sure if that plate is part of the Kubota bagger system or if you bought a tractor that was intended to or had a bagger installed while in the showroom.

This post is super late but thought I would comment on this in case someone is using the search function like I frequently do. (Just stumbled on this looking up info on Cyclone rakes)

The metal plate is part of the Kubota "boot kit" - the boot kit is a whole goods item from Kubota that provides you with the factory collector boot, the pins to attach it, the metal plate that is being mentioned above, and a piece of 8" hose. The metal plate helps cause the blades to "throw" the grass in and up the attached boot so it can be more easily bagged.
