retchief, You don't have your location in your profile, but you mention centrl WA. If you went to the same dealer I did 3 years ago, you'll get little, if any movement on price. They get so many Microsofties with million dollar "cabins" walking in and pulling out their credit cards before asking "how much?" that they don't need your business.
3 Years ago, I saved $3,400 on a
bx22 by shopping online and driving 250 miles, which is pretty good pay per hour... I know people stress the wonderfulness of a great relationship with your dealer, but I have a wife and that's enough closeness in my life, the money was much more important, especially considering the fact I couldn't even get the salesman's attention at my local dealer in central WA. I won't get into dealer specifics, but there's one in east central OR who's a lot more flexible and stayed late on a Saturday to get our tractor prepped and loaded for the trip back and provided what little support I needed on service by phone. Modern tractors are incredibly reliable, so IMHO, the great rapport with a dealer is overrated by many people. If it had been a couple hundred dollars, I'd have bought locally, but for thousands, it was a no-brainer and I have no regrets and much smaller payments. Good luck shopping and get your butt in a seat ASAP, you'll be glad you did!
