Buying Advice Kubota BX2350 or B2400?? Or something else similar?????

Hi all.
We have narrowed our search for a small tractor down to one of these two... (unless someone has a compelling better idea!) But I'm a bit nervous of the auto transmission on the BX. We also wouldn't use machines under the belly. I don't need the extra hydraulics that are standard here in Europe on the BX as we have an old MF373 with loader for the real heavy work. Any advice/opinions from owners/experts welcomed. We're beginners to this and can't afford to buy the wrong thing.

Welcome to the forum. I don't know how models in Europe compare to North America but I owned a B2410 for 11 years and was quite happy with it. I used mine as my primary lawn mower but the loader was on it at all times so that was used frequently as well. The BX would probably be better as a pure mower but I liked the bigger, taller frame of the B which made it a better "tractor". If you describe your primary uses for the machine we will be better able to highlight the pros and cons.

Hi, those are things that have been swaying us. I made a mistake on the post. We are seriously being drawn to the B2420 model. Here that comes with a 3-pot 1123cc deisel engine making about 24hp (17.9 kW). We have about 25 acres, about 20 of woods with grassed paths & clearings. Rest is grassed fields. We have an old MF373 full size with front loader, which is too big and unweildy for the woods. The Kub will pull a finishing mower around the grassy paths in the woods to keep that tidy. Perhaps mowing some of the pasture that we want better than the flail mower on the MF can do. The Kub will also be able to get well into the woods for work and maybe dragging a few trunks about. Then pulling a trailer all over the place for general work. We've come to think that bit more power, together with a 'proper' manual gearbox may be the better option for us.
