Mowing Kubota BX2230 Mower question

I just purchased a 2003 BX2230 and am looking for a mid mount mower deck. What models will work with this tractor. I have seen RCK-54-22bx and RCK-54-23bx as well as others advertised. I do not want to buy the wrong unit especially if I have it shipped. Thanks in advance, John

I'm betting no one answered yet because no one knows the answer. I'd say check with a Kubota dealer to find the answer.

The manuals for both the BX2230 and the various decks are on the web. They will tell you. I'm about 90% sure the same decks that fit the BX1800 and Bx 2200 also fit the BX 2300 and Bx2230. I bought a 2230 for someone else and the deck LOOKED just like mine but I did not exhaustively study it nor look at the model number.
My manual on the RCK60B-22BX mid-mount mower mounted on my BX2200 says 1) The manual itself is for both the RCK54-22BX and the RCK60B-22BX. 2) Secondly, it says "suitable tractors" for these decks are the BX1800 and the BX2200. But the manual was printed prior to 2003 when I got our BX2200 so the2230 was probably not out yet at that time.

The RCK54-22BX and RCK60-22BX decks(metal belt covers and discharge chute ) pretty sure just fit the BX 1800, 1830, 2200, 2230 and listed as options for all.

The RCKxx-23BX series(plastic belt covers, discharge chute and 4 bolt pulley flanges) have seen on the BXxx50 ,BXxx60 BXxx70 and they all list the RCKxx-23BX decks as an option.

The 48inch decks were used on the BX1500 not sure if it will fit the other tractors as the BX15xx series had shorter frames because of a 2 cylinder engine.

In this thread someone mentions that the rear mounts are different.

Forgot to mention: The Kubota belly mowers have a lot of hanging hardware, lift rods, brackets, of course the little driveshaft to mate up with your mid-pto, etc. You need to make sure ALL that is provided if you go buy a used one because the missing parts may only be available via Kubota and may cost you nearly as much as you pay for the deck if you are not careful. Don't know about Tucson but in some areas there are used equipment shops that buy/sell/trade Kubota attachments and you might get lucky there.

I have the parts list for BX1830 and BX2230. It shows the mower deck model numbers to be RCK54-22BX and RCK60B-22BX. I have the 54 on my BX2230. I have used my father's BX2200 which has a 60. Besides the size difference the 60 is made form a heavier gauge steel. The 60 also has some extra hardware on it (Kubota calls it a balancer) Both work fine in my opinion.

I see you only mention 54" decks.

My BX2200 performs quite well with the 60" deck. I would not want a 54" deck myself. Of course if you need narrower width for whatever reason, there would be no choice. I do not have any tight spaces so the wider deck is perfect.

Actually, I wish I could fit a 72" deck! The tractor seems to have the poser to drive one...

I use a 60" deck on a BX2200 and also a 60" deck on a B2150. I prefer 60" over the 54". Of course the tight quarters you may have to mow matter. Also, you have to have at least a 6 1/2 ft wide utility or landscape trailer to fit the 60" deck on it. A 6ft wide trailer just does not work. Many if not most people moving these little machines do so on 2-wheel utility trailers with sides and the width issue is go or no go. I think a 72" deck on this size machine would be somewhat of a nuisance.

As a follow up: I found a used RCK54-22BX at Inland Kubota in Redlands, California. Great people to deal with. I had it shipped to Tucson and will mount it in the next couple of days. I want to thank everyone who responded especially relating to the fact to make sure the brackets were with the deck. Great forum with great advice.
