Happened to see this linked when looking at another video and it got steam coming out of my ears:

So many things wrong with that delivery -- I would have taken time to line up the ramps, would have parked in the other direction so trailer was offloading uphill, would not have kids buzzing around, might even postpone since everything was slick. Driver did not seem to have his head on.

Oh yeah, and if I was the customer I would have refused delivery on that machine for sure, out of principle if nothing else. Delivery needs to arrive safely in one piece if they want my check!

For starters, if it was your machine, would you be filming or spotting? I personally would be spotting to make sure my new machine got off the trailer undamaged.

I saw that video on another forum. Couldn't watch much of it. Wanted to reach through the screen and slap the snot out of person filming the video ;);)

I believe the latest update on this mishap was Messicks replaced the tractor.

First thing I learned in that area long ago was to stay clear and let the paid people handle it. If you do or say something that might distract them, they can place the blame on you.

That said, this was posted here somewhere, maybe in the 'hauling wrong thread'.

Other than the obvious mistake of unloading heading uphill, the rest of this can probably be classified as an accident.
Over my many years as a dealership employee I have observed that deliveries in less than perfect weather are more often the result of customer request than dealer insistence. Wet trailer ramps and deck surfaces just suck.

An accident, also known as an unintentional act, is an undesirable, incidental, and an unplanned event that could have been prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, and acted upon, prior to its occurrence.

So a little side bar here RickB but I just now noticed that you are in NC instead of NYS?!

What prompted that move, may I ask and how are you adjusting?

Cost of living, weather, family considerations. Will be here two years in September. Aside from being separated from lifelong friends and some remaining fairly distant relatives we are extremely happy with the move. It was in the works for several years and the pieces all came together so we did it.

Congratulations to you! Glad it’s working out well. That seems like a big change in locale to me but may not be for you.
