Backhoe Kubota Backhoe use generating great heat

I have a friend who has a Kubota Tractor with a Kubota back hoe. I do not know the model # of the tractor of bh right now but it is around a 35 hp tractor. When using it the bh gets very hot, to the point that the seals leak and you can feel the heat radiating off the bh. Is there any thing that can be done to cool the hydraulic system oil. It is a detachable bh ran off the pto. I have run larger equipment before and they have an oil cooler. Is there any thing available for this. Thanks for any help.

Around 35 HP???? An L series perhaps. My BH 90 BH doesn't impose squat for heat load on my 3130 at any motor RPM. Heat radiating off the BH??? Is it nuclear?? Just slamming you a bit. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I just can't imagine that a tractor mounted BH, paricularily if on a Hydro drive, ever gets enough work duration to create a noticable heat load. You have to cycle between the BH and the drive seat too often to have uninterupted work. Unless you pull neutral on fairly flat ground, and walk it with the BH, you can't sustain the kind of continuous work a commercial BH can offer. Therefore the work/heat impulses should be limited duration. If you can feel the heat, somethings not right. Unless perhaps it 95 degrees and you are working flat ground and repositioning with the BH. I.E. the wheels are free turing. Otherwise, something else is at play.

It sounds like there is a restriction in the system somewhere. I would change the filter first and check to see it there are any hoses that are kinked between the pto pump and the valve body on the hoe. If it still over heats after changing the filter and if there is no kinks, I would then look at the relief valves.

It feels nuclear after about an hour of running, thats not pushing it very hard, it will get hot enought if you keep pushing it the cylinders wil leak oil and then you get smoke from inside the boom and the pivot area. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We will check the filter, I know the fluid is in good shape, it has leaked enough out that it has been replaced. It has a good quality hydraulic fluid in it. We will check the hoses also to see if there is any restrictions.
