Thinking about buying a Kubota B7500. Mostly residential use for about 6 acres. Any comments about this tractor? Is it large enough to do some meaningful digging with the loader? Any options that I really should pursue? What is a good price?

woodie, the B7500 should be a fine little tractor for you, EXCEPT when you talk about meaningful digging with the loader. I don't know what experience you've had with tractors and front end loaders and what kind of digging you intend to do, but you really just don't do much "digging" with a front end loader unless you have a really big tractor. You can scrape a think layer off at a time, otherwise you usually just stick the front of the loader into the ground and spin your tires. A tooth bar on the loader will make it do some better, but try them out before you buy.

woodie,
First of all I agree w/ Bird about digging into mother earth, than again depends on what soil you have and other projects line up....21hp should handle your residential needs.

Were you looking at B7500DT or B7500HSD.
Here some price listing in my area.
B7500DT..$10,180.oo
B7500HSD..$11,730.oo
LA272..$2,770.oo
LA302..$3,021.oo

Take your time in tractor shopping and most of all have fun, plus ask all the questions you can think of.

Bird/Thomas--Thanks for the advice. The dealer I'm working with indicated that he would let me work with the tractor prior to purchase and I intend to do just that. Also, the pricing for this B7500HSD with a loader and R4 tires was 12,800. This seems like a pretty fair price. I've had quotes as low as 12,500, but I'm trying to stay in the Northern VA area.

Woodie,

We are "in the process" of getting a B7500 for ourselves. I looked around a fair bit, plu a friend brought over his B7100 to show us what it would do.

The thing that sold us was that it seemed to be able to handle all the things we needed it for, plus it's real "compact". We have a couple of narrow places to get through, and anything bigger just wouldn't make it. Also, the B7500 has about 6 more HP than the B7100.

The bids we got on the HST version ranged from $11,200 (low bid) to $11,800 (high bid). Of course we got several attachments. One of the bids we got listed what looked like close to full retail for everything, then threw in a $1250 discount after the fact.

As far as attachments, we got the FEL, Woods box scraper, Rear mower, and T & T kit. We "might" get a post hole digger, but that's still on the wish list....

We're using ours for (1) light road maintenance (we have a 3/4 mile gravel driveway), and (2) mowing about 2 acres around the house, and (3) light-duty landscaping.

I got a B7500DT, my first tractor, several months ago and I love it. I paid $9500 for the tractor itself (Lampson Tractor, Geyserville, CA) and also bought the 272 FEL, a 4' Gearmont box scraper, and a 4' chopper. Am using it for the same things as GlueGuy, plus some work in the woods. I wish I had gotten the tip and tilt capability and may have it added when I can afford it. You might want to check out that thread (on Kubota Owning). Have fun.

Last week I bought a B7500DT with an LA302 loader and CaCl in the rear tires for $10,850. My dealer is located in mid Missouri. He even sold my old B6000 for me and got $3,000 for it.

Bryce,
The quotes came from the Kubota dealer in Warrenton VA and High View Sales in High View WVA. I purchased mine 4 weeks ago from the High View Dealer closer to my home in Winchester got the B7500 HST with a Woods 6000 RD finish mower and a 4 Foot Howse bush hog for $11,800. The tractor has done great. Good Luck.

Crown:

Welcome to the board! Your'e in Winchester! We're practically neighbors - I live just over the state line in Summit Point WV.

I've been going to Browning Equipment over in Purcellville off route 7 for my Kubota stuff. Real nice people there. Also, I got my landscape rake at Roadside tractor parts on route 7 midway between Winchester and Berryville.

WV Bill,
Good to know somebody in the area, what type of tractor do you have? I love my B-7500 looking forward to working with it this summer.

Crown:

I've got an old B6100DT that my father-in-law bought new in 1978. He used it for landscaping work at the houses he bought, fixed up and sold in Southern California. He gave it to me last fall and I have had a great time with it. I've been able to do things around our property I couldn't have dreamed of doing without the muscle of the tractor and the FEL.

In the planning stages now is scraping off the sod and leveling an area for a patio in the back yard.

I didn't get a mower with it so for now I still mow our 3 1/2 acres with the old Craftsman 46" garden "tractor".

What projects are you planning with your 7500?

Fill in some more of your registration page so we know more about you!

Crown,

Byrd Kubota in Centerville, VA gave me a very good deal on my B7500HST, FEL & 54" mower. Ask Jeremy to make you a deal. He came close enough to the Internet price that I decided to buy local. Real happy with the tractor and the dealer service.
