i got a b7100 with a bad rear end, it pops and grides. is there any 1 out there that has work on them or know any thing about then. just trying to figure out how to fixs it
Can't tell from description...bearings, ring and pinion, ??? ...has to be opened up. Early Kubotas straightforward mechanically and fairly easy to work on...but need good basic mechanical skills and manuals...
Had B6000 w/broken ring gear tooth...foot slipped off clutch while forcing FEL into hill. Easy fix...but I'm a gearhead...
thank you for the replys. i have some mechanic skill but i am still young so i am learning. but when i took the tractor over it would knock in low and 3 and in high 2 and 3. i have a plow on front and i started to move some gravel and it grind a little which now it knock worse. i don't know if it the rear end or trany. it's a gun club tractor and we don't have much money to fix it so i think i will take it on my self.
Not being able to hear it, it's a tough call. I do know that some of the B7100's had issues with the moveable hubs on the rear axles. If these become even slightly loose, they creak and pop with a rather alarming noise. Other area to check is the diff lock and make sure it's disengageing all the way. Good Luck! and Welcome to TBN!!!
Since noise only in some gears, more likely trans. Rear end noise (including hubs) would be in all gears and depend on ground speed. Remove shifter cover and look for damaged gear teeth first...
well i will look at it. last night i was moving a little gravel over and it did fine at first till cai went to move the last bet. i came up to it but it i 2scn put at about half to 3/4 throtle and it gride and stop moving, i let off and stop it just can't haldle the power. but well is the a good place to get a manule for it or is there any 1 in indiana that has 1 i could look at
Here is a link to my old B7100. The transmission went out in it several years ago and I sold it as a "mechanics Special" to a local diesel mechanic that was going to fix it and resell it. Unfortunately when he cracked the tranny open it was a lot worse than he thought and he is now parting it out. The engine ran great when I sold it to him.
Your description of the problem sounds familiar. I was blowing snow and when to shift gears (manual transmission) and when I let the clutch out there was a POP/Bang from the transmission. Luckily I was only about 20 feet from the front of the shop and so I just shut it down and had my son help me push it into the shop. The first thing I did was to drop the oil in the transmission and it had a bunch of "Silver" in it and then a couple of gear teeth came out in the oil! I went to the local dealer's shop and talked with the head Kubota mechanic there and he was the one that suggested that I sell it as a Mechanic's Special as he figured it was going to cost more for parts (even with doing the labor myself) than what the tractor was worth (it only had about 1400 hrs on it but it didn't have a FEL).
I ended up working a pretty good deal on a new B3200 with a FEL as the dealer has one coming in in 2 weeks (we were in the latter part of a record setting winter in North Idaho and he couldn't keep any inventory on the lot) and then 2 days later the sales guy calls me up and wants to know if I want to take advantage of Kubota's 0% financing that they had just announced (on top of the killer deal I had negotiated -- it was better than any dealer in 300 miles and it was local). I don't know how we ever got by without the bigger tractor and the FEL now.
