sierrasage,
A Quick Comparative Summary (
B6100 vs
BX1800 or BX 2200): The
B6100 is a slightly larger tractor (with more ground clearance) with a smaller engine.
Bottom Line: It is hard to pass up a NEW tractor with warranty. It is also hard to pass up an older tractor with 169 hours at 50% or more off the new price. I have never heard anything bad about the
B6100; look at the comparisons below to see if the
B6100 may meet your needs.
The B6100D is the gear drive / 4wd version of the B6100HST-D (an "E" suffix would indicate 2wd, as in B6100E or B6100HST-E). The main difference between the B6100D and the B6100HST-D is that the hydrostatic model has less PTO horsepower available.
The following B6100D information is from my B5100D/B6100D/B7100D operator's manual and the BX 1800/2200 sales brochure:
....................
B6100...........................[
BX1800]
Engine Size:...3 cylinder / 41.2 cu inch...[3 cylinder / 43.9 cu in]
Engine HP:.....14 hp @ 2800 rpm...........[18 hp @ 3200 rpm]
PTO HP:........11.................................[13.7 ]
Ground Clnc...9-7/8 inch.......................[6.7 inch]
Weight:........1038 lbs..........................[1255 lbs]
Note that the BX engine is not significantly larger than the
B6100 (comparing cubic inches); the HP advantage is gained mainly by the higher operating RPMs.
The following "maximum" recommended implements for the
B6100 comes from the operator's manual as well:
Rotary Mower: 42" cut / 300 lbs
Finish mower: 48" cut / 300 lbs
Rotary tiller: 42"
Rear Blade: 60"
Front Loader: 42" / 500 lbs
Box Blade: 42" / 380 lbs
3 point lift: 400 lbs.
Hope this helps,
Kelvin
