Hi, I'm looking at a Kubota b4200 as my first small tractor. I need something to move snow (small driveway, but 15"+ snowfall is common), and move dirt around the yard. Any major downsides to the 2-cylinder engine? These don't seem to be all that common -- would finding parts be a concern?

Anyone know the full width of this tractor? I can't find the dimensions online, and am wondering if I could get it in my 48" wide trailer to bring it home.

Seller is asking $3k with a loader and snow blade. Looks pretty good based on other prices I've seen? Someone suggested seeing them for $1000-$1500 on http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-buying-pricing/115088-what-better-older-kubota-small.html, but I haven't seen anything nearly that low.

Any chance of putting a small hoe on this? I know it would have to be tiny, but possible? Would it need to be custom fabricated? Thanks.

I'd say that it would be less then the 48" width but I'd worry over the load limits of a 48" wide trailer!

I'd not worry over the backhoe to much as it might be hard to find one that small.

They were good little tractors and they put everything into the two cylinders that are in the three cylinders just one less of most of the parts.

Thanks much, Art. someone mentioned the difference in feel/sound of 2-cylinder engine vs. a 3-cylinder. I'm guessing it's just a preference thing -- like how different it felt when I switched from a 4-cylinder motorcycle to a single-cylinder dual-sport. Took some getting used to, but now I'm fine with it.

Yeah, I'm thinking of that, but think I'm okay. From the specs I can find, looks like this tractor weighs just under 1000lbs, without attachments. I've loaded the trailer with 1 1/2 cubic yards of compost on many occasions, which I'm pretty sure is significantly above that. It's 48" between the wheels, not 48" total. Guess I should have mentioned that. :)

D'oh! The seller just emailed me and told me he sold it this morning -- even though he told me yesterday to come look at in on Saturday rather than today. Thanks for the info, anyway. Seems like this is about what I'm looking for when I do find one.

Thanks for the feedback, LBrown59. I appreciate it.

Probably good this thing was already sold. I *want* one, but not sure I *need* one yet. :)

I bought a used Toro Wheel Horse 416 hydrostatic instead over the weekend. Not quite a Kubota, but a very serious lawn tractor. It's a good stepping stone to a *real* tractor sometime in the next couple years...

Sorry you missed this one...I had a B5100, and as I recall it was 38" wide overall, FEL included...Great little tractor and was oh so nice when it came to being economical with its 12 hp, 2 cylinder bore...Good luck.
