Kubota B2710 hst
I bought a 2000 Kubota 2710 hst 4wd in July of 2011. The Kubota dealersip had put a new clutch in prior to. I used it for 10 hours and had to replace the clutch. I used it again for 12 hours and the clutch came out again today. It's getting very frustrating, not to mention Expensive. Anybody. What's going on?

how are you using the clutch?

if it is HST you really just need to use it to start the tractor or shift through the three ranges and engage or disengage the pto, but not on the go.

That is very uncharacteristic for any tractor, I would expect the dealer to stand behind the new clutch.

You "can" make a clutch fail that quick, but you would really have to be trying.

Yeah, and why did it fail in the first place,? the Clutch is about the most unused part on a HST tractor.

That is exactly how I use it. Only to start the tractor, choose my gear range which is almost always Medium, and to put the PTO in gear. The 2 times it has failed with me has been while I was traveling and mowing in a straight line with no turns or maneuvers. It simply stops in its tracks. I don't know. Any viable suggestions?

Sounds like something is out of adjustment, maybe the clutch free play isn't set correctly which could keep the clutch from fully engaging. IDK, but I did notice in another thread you were bad mouthing the clutch in your Kubota and said it wasn't a 'one tractor problem'. Just FYI, the clutch in your B2710 is the same one used in almost all of the B-series to current day, all the way up to the B3300su, so I doubt there is a problem with them.

What actually failed? I saw a B2150 with a failed clutch and input shaft. It was from slamming in to things too hard. The guy was really trashing his tractor. The input shaft, and the bushing/bearing in the flywheel got trashed, and the clutch discs took a beating. That is the forerunner to the B2710.

input shaft worn almost smooth w/metal shavings laying in housing beneath. Went ahead and changed throw out bearing when replaced first clutch but it seemed fine so now I have a good spare.
